     Ralph Greathead was born about 1834 in Whorlton, Teesdale, Durham, England.1 He was the son of John Greathead and Mary ....1 In the census of 7 June 1841 in Whorlton, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of John Greathead.2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Ovington, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as an apprentice with John Wilkinson as tailors to John's father Robert Wilkinson.3 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Cottage, Whorlton, Teesdale, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of John Greathead Ralph was a tailor following in his Dad's footsteps and lived with his parents and brother.4

     Amelia Greathead was born on 16 August 1906 in 20 Benson Street, Chester le Street, Durham, England, Ethel and John were unmarried when little Amelia was born. Both signed the birth registration, and they were married two months later.2 She was the daughter of John Greathead and Ethel Egglestone. Amelia lost her mother and four sibling sin 1915.3 She married Frank White in 1928 in England Frank and Amelia had four boys and two girls.4,5 She died in October 1991 aged 85.5

     Edna Effie Pearl Rourke was born about 1892 in Canada.2 She was the daughter of W H Rourke and Eliza L Arney.1 She married Howard Greathead, son of William Greathead and Amanda Schatz, on 4 June 1913 in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada, Howard was a mechanic. The ceremony was witnessed by Laura M Greathead of Southampton and Charma Roue from Park Head. They had two girls and a son.2 Howard and Pearl went on to have a family of two girls and a boy and lived in Hamilton, Ontario.3
