Henry Bright was born about 1858 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.2 He married Elizabeth Hannah Haydon, daughter of Robert Haydon and Eliza Hazel Greethead, in 1885 in Sunderland, Durham, England, It would appear from the GRO index that Elizabeth married Henry using her maiden name of Haydon.1,3 Henry was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in 16 Elgin Street, Sunderland, Durham, England, Henry was described as a Seas Steward living with his wife and his son and her sister Margaret.4 Henry was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 16 Elgin Street, Sunderland, Durham, England, Henry was listed as a general labourer living with his wife and a boarder called William Stewart and yet on the previous census he was described as Henry's son. I believe William was Elizabeth's son by a previous marriage. Also strangely Henry's place of birth is listed as Bath, Somerset not Hartlepool prevously stated.5 Henry was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 8 Clementine Street, Sunderland, Durham, England, Henry was a stoker at the pepper mills living with his wife and son in their three roomed home. William Stewart was lodging with them, I believe he was Elizabeth's son by a previous marriage. William was a driller in the shipyard.6
