     William Greethead was baptised on 19 May 1751 in St Marys, Redcliffe, Bristol, Somerset, England.1 He was the son of Josiah Greethead and Sarah Linnis.1 William was apprenticed to John Ellis a peruke maker and became a Burgess of the City of Bristol. He was listed in Sketchley's directory of 1775 as living at 88 Redcliffe Street and in the 1787 directory of Redcliffe Street. Both of the entries list him as a peruke maker. I am told a peruke is a wig, so, William was a wig maker.1 He married Elizabeth Harris on 16 February 1775 in St Marys, Redcliffe, Bristol, Somerset, England, by banns. The marriage was witnessed by Josiah Greethead and C Greethead who were probably William's brother and sister in law.1 His wife Elizabeth died on 1790. He married Elizabeth Stockman on 11 September 1790 in St Augustine the Less, Bristol, Somerset, England, by banns.1,2,3 William died in 1792. William was buried on 25 November 1792 in St Marys, Redcliffe, Bristol, Somerset, England.1

     Josiah Greethead was baptised on 14 April 1777 in St Marys, Redcliffe, Bristol, Somerset, England.1 He was the son of William Greethead and Elizabeth Harris.1 Josiah left a will on 30 September 1812. Josiah was buried on 9 January 1813.2 The will of Josiah was proved on 23 February 1813 at the PCC. Josiah describes himself as a Gentleman of the City of Bristol. He gave £50 each to nieces and nephews - William Greethead, Sarah Russell and Jemima Watkins. Robert Greethead a nephew was one of the Executors.1

     Josiah Hazel Greethead was born about 1818 in St Pauls, Bristol, Somerset, England.2 He was the son of William Harris Greethead and Sarah ...1 He was baptised on 10 January 1819 in St James, Bedminster, Bristol, Somerset, England.1 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Temple Backs, Bristol, Somerset, England, he was listed as the son of William Harris Greethead Josiah was a cooper.3,4 He married Mary Ann Tudway, daughter of Charles Tudway and Ann ..., on 8 November 1846 in Temple, Bristol, Somerset, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Edward Fisher and Charles Augustus Tudway. Both Josih and his father were listed as coopers and Mary's father a abourer. Both Josiah and Mary signed the certificate with a X.5,6 Josiah was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 April 1861 in 7 Coleston Place, Temple, Bristol, Somerset, England, Joseph was a labourer and Mary a laundress, living with them was Joseph's mother in law.7 Josiah died in 1871 in Clifton, Bristol, Somerset, England.8

     Robert Samuel Greethead was baptised on 27 December 1785 in St Marys, Redcliffe, Bristol, Somerset, England.1 He was the son of William Greethead and Elizabeth Harris.1 Robert was Ensign with the Royal Bristol Volunteer Infantry and was promoted to Lieutenant on 10 April 1812.2 Robert became a Burgess of the City of Bristol on 11 July 1812.1,3 He married Sarah Caroline Rogers on 6 March 1813 in St Philip and St Jacob, Bristol, Somerset, England, by licence. Robert was described as "of St Leonard's."1,4 Robert was listed in 1832 in the Matthews Guide as living at 4 Marlborough Hill Place, Bristol, Somerset, England.1 Robert was listed as the head of the family on the census of 6 June 1841 in Marlbro Hill, St James, Bristol, Somerset, England, Robert was an accountant and was living with his wife and family. There was also a three month girl staying with the family listed as Julia Ireland.5 Robert died on 17 March 1849 in Clifton, Bristol, Somerset, England, aged 63 after nearly seven years suffering from apoplexy and paralysis.6,7 In Bristol Mirror 15 November 1823, page 2, there is the report of the bankrupcy of a Robert Greethead of Bristol, a "dealer and chapman."8

Robert was described as "of St Leonard's."1,3 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Marlbro Hill, St James, Bristol, Somerset, England, she was listed as the wife of Robert Samuel Greethead.4 Her husband Robert died on 17 March 1849 in Clifton, Bristol, Somerset, England, aged 63 after nearly seven years suffering from apoplexy and paralysis.5,6 Sarah was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at 5 Montague Street, Bristol, Somerset, England, Sarah was a dealer in antiquites, the young child Julia Ireland is still with the family, now listed as a visitor aged 10. There are three other children visitors William Evans aged 8, Frederick Monk aged 5 and James Hamblin aged 1.7 Sarah died in 1857 in Clifton, Bristol, Somerset, England.8

     Mary Ann Slader was born about 1815 in Lynton, Devon, England, There is some confusion about when Mary was born. the census returns list her being born anywhere between 1815 and 1835.2 She married Robert Augustus Greethead, son of Robert Samuel Greethead and Sarah Caroline Rogers, on 29 January 1833 in St Peter's, Bristol, Somerset, England, by banns.1 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Marlbro Hill, St James, Bristol, Somerset, England, she was listed as the wife of Robert Augustus Greethead.3 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 10 Deighton Road, Bristol, Somerset, England, she was listed as the wife of Robert Augustus Greethead.4 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 2 Camden Terrace, Westbury on Trym, Bristol, Somerset, England, she was listed as the wife of.5 In the census of 2 April 1871 in 4 Chandos Terrace, Westbury on Trym, Gloucestershire, England, she was listed as the wife of Robert Augustus Greethead Mary Ann was a cook.6 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 4 Chandos Terrace, Westbury on Trym, Gloucestershire, England, she was listed as the wife of Robert Augustus Greethead.7 Her husband Robert died on 10 December 1888 in 53 Gloucester Road, Horsfield, Bristol, Somerset, England.8,9 Mary's husband was a boot manufacturer, she received probate at Bristol on 18 April 1889.8 She proved the will of Robert Augustus Greethead on 18 April 1889.8,10 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 109 Ystrad Road, Ystradyfodwg, Clydach, Glamorganshire, Wales, she was listed as the Aunt of Morton aged 39 and Susan aged 37 Fulford. Morton was a coal miner from Bristol.11 Mary died in 1892 in Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, Wales.12

     John Thomas Pull was born on 23 December 1881 in Aylsham, Norfolk, England.1,2,3,4 He was the son of John Thomas Pull and Mary Ann Cory.1 He was baptised on 13 May 1882 in Aylsham, Norfolk, England.3 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Dunkirk, Aylsham, Norfolk, England, he was listed as the son of John Thomas Pull John is a scholar.5 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Grand Harbour, Valletta, Malta, he was listed as an Ordinary Seaman on board Royal Navy ship Ramillies.6 He married Emma Lilian Swan in 1906 in Medway, Kent, England.7 John died before 1909 It is assumed John died before 1909 as his parents recorded five of their eleven children dead before 1911. All other children were alive. Also I have been informed that Emma emigrated to Sydney Australia and married again in 1910.8

     Robert Haydon was born about 1832.2 He was the son of Isaac Haydon.2 He married Eliza Hazel Greethead, daughter of William Harris Greethead and Sarah ..., on 14 March 1858 in St Philip and St Jacob, Bristol, Somerset, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Eliza David and Eliza Mitchell. Robert was listed as a mariner as was his father Isaac. Eliza's father was listed as a cooper.3,2 Robert was listed on the census of his wife as being at sea.4 He died on 13 April 1887 in Union Workhouse (Harton Institute), South Shields, Durham, England, his daughter Elizabeth Hannah Bright registered his death.5,6
