     Samuel Archer Greathead was born on 9 February 1873 in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA, his father was a machinist.1,2,3 He was the son of Benjamin Greathead and Alice Archer.1 In the census of 1 June 1880 in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA, he was listed as the son of Benjamin Greathead Samuel was listed as being at school.4 Samuel was initiated into the Pentucket Lodge on 5 March 1896. He passed on 21 May 1896 and raised 18 June 1896. He was a clerk.5 In the census of 1 June 1900 in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA, he was listed as the son of Alice Archer Samuel was a clerk in the cotton mill.6 In the census of 15 April 1910 in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA, he was listed as the son of Alice Archer Samuel was a salesman.7 Samuel was described as tall in height, of medium build with blue eyes and light brown hair. On 12 September 1918 he was living in 517 Broadway, Lowell. He was self employed working as a boarder supply dealer. His mother was listed as his next of kin and she was living at 4838 Walnut Street, Philadelphia.2 In the census of 2 April 1930 in 11 Hobbs Avenue, Nashua, Hillsborough, New Hampshire, USA, he was listed as the lodger working as a Salesman barber supplies.8 In January 1935 Samuel was a roomer at the YMCA in Lowell was involved in an accident where a 70 year old inmate from the Chelmsford Street Hospital was knocked over and died from his injuries in hospital. He pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and operating an automobile as to endanger life. At his trial a month later was found not guilty on both counts.9 Samuel was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 1 April 1940 in Pentucket Boulevard, Tyngsborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA, Samuel was a salesman in barbers supplies.10 Samuel died on 25 April 1946 aged 73.11

     Isabella E Greathead was born in 1917 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.1 She was the daughter of Alfred Greathead and Eliza Phoebe Amos. In the census of 19 June 1921 in 56 Durham Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the daughter of Alfred Greathead.2 Isabella moved south in the 30's to start nursing in Carshalton, which she did for a number of years. She later went to work for J Sainsburys.3 Cyril and Isabella were engaged when war broke out. Cyril was in the RAF in India and Burma until June 1946. Isabella was in the land army in Cambridge area.3 She married Cyril Gordon Cox, son of A Cox, on 1 July 1946 in Holy Trinity, Hartlepool, Durham, England, the Reverend A G Curtis officiated. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr J W Greathead, was attired in white satin, with veil and orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of red carnations. Miss Eleanor Packer (cousin of the bride) was bridesmaid. Isabella, known as Cissy gave her address as 54 Durham Street, Hartlepool and Cyril was listed as coming from Blackmoor in Hampshire.4,5,6 The family lived in Frensham until 1966 when they moved to Farnham and later in 1996 to Dorset. Her husband Cyril died on March 1999 in Dorset, England, aged 78.7 Isabella died in 2007 in Dorset, England, having been in a nursing home since 2006. She was not far from her son Kenneth.3

He was baptised on 9 August 1870 in Hampreston, Dorset, England, his father was a Major.4 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Uddens House, Chalbury, Dorset, England, he was listed as the son of Edward Harris Greathed.5 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Winton House, Winchester, Hampshire, England, he was listed as a boarder.6 Edward attended Eton College from September 1883 to July 1886. His house masters were Rev Henry Daman MA who was a master between 1869-1899 and Rev Stuart Alexander Donaldson who was a master between 1878-1904. He was baptised on 5 January 1906 in Cathedral Church of St Peter & St Paul, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, his father was a van driver for the Midland Railway and the family lived 27ch 3h Granville St.4 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 187 Granville Street, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of George Edwin Greathead.5 Cyril was admitted to Heeley Bank Boys School, Heeley, as of 8 April 1918, until 3 August 1920. He left when he left the City and had previously attended Sale Mem.2 In the census of 19 June 1921 in 43 Chester Street, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as a lodger George, Edith and their son Cyril were temporary lodgers of Charles and Frances Brown.      Thomas Greathead was born about 1813.2 He was the son of Thomas Greathead. He married Elizabeth Myers, daughter of Edward Barnes, on 3 September 1848 in St Peter, Eagle Street, Derby, Derbyshire, England, According to the birth certificate of her son Willlam, Elizabeth gave her previous name as Barnes and she was previously Mear, she signed with an X. According to her marriage certificate she declared she was a widow of full age called Elizabeth Myers. Her father was declared as William Smith a labourer. Again she signed with a X. Thomas was a bachelor and horsekeeper.

The ceremony took place after banns had been read and was witnessed by Thomas Woolley and Ann Oliver.1,3,4 LThomas Greathead was a labourer on 19 January 1849. Thomas died in 1850 in Chertsey, Surrey, England.5 Thomas was buried on 22 August 1850 in St Peter, Chertsey, Surrey, England.6,7,8

     John Allen was born in 1804 in Lindridge, Worcestershire, England.1 He was the son of Michael Allen.2 He married Amelia Greathead, daughter of John Freeman, on 30 July 1837 in St John's, Bedwardine, Worcestershire, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by George Wilkes and Maria Burrow who signed with their mark and Edward Munn. John was a cutler and Amelia a widow was a governess, both lived in the Parish and signed with their marks.3 John was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Lindridge, Worcestershire, England, John was an agricultural labourer living with his wife and their six children, little Amelia was only one month old.4
