He was asigned to HMS Dasher. His service number was 1071070.1,4 Herbert was buried Herbert is commemorated with the Commonwealth War dead in Liverpool Naval Memorial Panel 11 Column 1.4

They had four children two unnamed born 1755 and 1757 both dying in 1758. Rather suspicious!! Alice baptised on 26 August 1759 and Sarah born 9 September 1764 and baptised 5 November 1764.2

     Alice L Derrick was born on 5 September 1878 in San Francisco, California, USA, Alice's mother maiden name was McBride, she was born in Ireland. Alice's father was born in New York.1,2,3,4 She was the daughter of Michael Derrick and Margaret McBride.4 She married Norman Jack Greathead, son of Nicholas T Greathead and Laura Jack, in 1909 This was Normans' second marriage and Alice's first.1 In the census of 20 April 1910 in San Francisco, California, USA, she was listed as the wife of Norman Jack Greathead Alice was a public school teacher.5 Norman and Alice sailed from Havana in Cuba on 10 January 1914, aboard SS Excelsior arriving in New Orleans, Louisiana on 12 January 1914.2 Her husband Norman died on 5 October 1915 in California, USA, aged 41.1,6 Alice sailed on 21 April 1925 from Southampton Board SS Aquitania for New York, US.7 Alice was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 2 April 1930 in Lincoln Avenue, San Francisco, California, USA, Alice was a public school teacher.8 Alice sailed aboard the Lady Somers leaving Hamilton Bermuda and arriving Montreal, Quebec in Canada on 27 July 1931. She gave her home address as1003 Lincoln Way, San Francisco, California.3 Alice sailed on 6 August 1932 from Southampton aboard SS Volendam, she arrived in New York on 15 August giving her home address as 1003 Linoln Way, San Francisco.9 Alice sailed on 17 August 1937 from Glasgow aboard SS California, she arrived in New York on 23 August giving her home address as 1003 Linoln Way, San Francisco.10 Alice was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 1 April 1940 in 1003 Lincoln Way, San Francisco, California, USA.11 Alice died on 4 June 1948 in San Francisco, California, USA, aged 69.4 Alice was buried on 6 July 1948 in Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, San Mateo, California, USA, the bill was sent to her sister Mrs Eleanor Oakley 1342 8th Avenue. She was buried in plot 20 Division E.4
