She was baptized on 5 January 1831 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England.2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Justice's Yard, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England, Elizabeth was a domestic servant and is described as niece, she was living with her Sarah Day who was described as a Pauper charwoman and her children. William Tomlinson described as brother.3 She married William Mellars in 1851 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England.4 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Letwell, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of William Mellars.5 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Woodsetts, Nottinghamshire, England, she was listed as the wife of William Mellars.6 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Woodsetts, Nottinghamshire, England, she was listed as the wife of William Mellars.7 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Woodsetts, Nottinghamshire, England, she was listed as the wife of William Mellars William was a stone quarry labourer. Their son Thomas's wife Elizabeth died and he remarried. Two of his sons Arthur and Charles are now staying with them.8 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Woodsetts, Nottinghamshire, England, she was listed as the wife of William Mellars William was now a retired stone quarryman, his grandsons Charles and Arthur are still saying with them.9 She died in 1904 aged 73 or in 1908 aged 77 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England.10

     William Mellars was born about 1827 in Woodsetts, Nottinghamshire, England.1 He married Elizabeth Greathead, daughter of Thomas Greathead and Grace Tomlinson, in 1851 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England.2 William was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Letwell, Yorkshire, England, William was an agricultural abourer.3 William was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in Woodsetts, Nottinghamshire, England, William was a labourer.4 William was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in Woodsetts, Nottinghamshire, England, William was a labourer in the stone quarry.5 William was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in Woodsetts, Nottinghamshire, England, William was a stone quarry labourer. Their son Thomas's wife Elizabeth died and he remarried.      Sophia White was born about 1776 in West Indies.2 She married Samuel Greatheed, son of Christopher Greathead and Mary Crooke, on 2 August 1797.1 Sophia was listed as the head of the family on the census of 6 June 1841 in Clandon Place, Ramsgate, Kent, England, Sophia was of independent means.3 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 133 Piccadilly, Hanover Square, London, England, she was listed as the mother of John Greatheed Sophia is described as a fund owner.4 She died on 10 August 1859 in Streatham, London, England.5 The will of Sophia was proved on 20 December 1859 at the Probate Registry by her son John Greatheed of 134 Piccadilly. Her effects were under £5,000. It was resworn at the Hampshire Office in March 1862 as under £3,000.6

The remainder are listed as numbers within age groups. So the relationship has been assumed, howvere there must have been another male child aged between 5-10.2 In the census of 1 June 1840 in McConnellsburg, Fulton County, Pennsylvania, USA, she was listed as the daughter of Thomas Williams Greathead The 1840 US Federal census only lists the names of the head of the household. The remainder are listed as numbers within age groups. So the relationship has been assumed. Also in the household were two people I cannot identify, both are female, one aged 20-30 the other aged 30-40.3 In the census of 1 June 1850 in McConnellsburg, Fulton County, Pennsylvania, USA, she was listed as the daughter of Thomas Williams Greathead.4,5
