Sophia White was born about 1776 in West Indies.2 Samuel took out a licence on 31 July 1797.3 She married Samuel Greatheed, son of Christopher Greatheed and Mary Crooke, on 2 August 1797 in St Marylebone, Westminster, London, England, after a licence had been issued. The ceremony was witnessed Bob White and Alice Butler.1,4 Sophia was listed as the head of the family on the census of 6 June 1841 in Clandon Place, Ramsgate, Kent, England, Sophia was of independent means.5 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 133 Piccadilly, Hanover Square, London, England, she was listed as the mother of John Greatheed Sophia is described as a fund owner.6 Sophia died on 10 August 1859 in Streatham, London, England.7 The will of Sophia was proved on 20 December 1859 at the Probate Registry by her son John Greatheed of 134 Piccadilly. Her effects were under £5,000. It was resworn at the Hampshire Office in March 1862 as under £3,000.8
