     Wordsworth Smith was born about 1818 in Ide, Devon, England.1 He was the son of William Proctor Smith and Mary Wordsworth.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Coniston Bank, Hawkshead, Lancashire, England, he was listed as the son of William Proctor Smith Wordsworth was described as late Lieutenant in the Army, retired by sale of Commission.2 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Rydal, Lancashire, England, he was listed as the son of Mary Smith Wordsworth was a retired Lieutenant in the Army.3 Wordsworth was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in Rydal, Lancashire, England, Worsdworth was living with his sister Mary and two servants. He was described as formerly a Lieutenant in HM 39 Regiment and returned by date of Commission. His sister was a fund holder and annuitant.4 He died in 1881 in Kendal, Lancashire, England.5

     Mary Smith was born about 1819 in Ide, Devon, England.1 She was the daughter of William Proctor Smith and Mary Wordsworth.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Coniston Bank, Hawkshead, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the daughter of William Proctor Smith Mary is described as a gentlewoman.2 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Rydal, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Mary Smith Mary was a fund holder.3 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Rydal, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the sister of Wordsworth Smith Mary was a fund holder and annuitant.4 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Raglan House, Mathow, Worcestershire, England, she was listed as a lodger with Eliza Willder a lodging house keeper. She is still unmarried and described as a holder of Dividends.5 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Square Thorp, Binstead, Hampshire, England, she was listed as the Aunt of Robert Russell. The household consisted of Robert aged 71 born in Scotland and his wife Ellen aged 50 born in New Zealand and their daughter Ellen aged 30 also born in New Zealand. The family and Mary were all recorded as living on their own means. On census night there was a visitor Theodore Ward and three servants completing the household.6 Mary was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in Rydal Lodge, Chertsey, Surrey, England, Theodore S Ward aged 51 is now with her and described as her companion. She is still living on her own means. Interesting that she should call her house Rydal Lodge. She has three servants with her.7 She died in 1907 in Chertsey, Surrey, England.8

She married Thomas Dunn on 15 February 1874 in St Alphege, Solihull, Warwickshire, England, after the banns had been read on 18 and 25 August and 1 February. The ceremony was witnessed by Francis Dunn and Mary Greathead, her sister I believe. Thomas was a labourer.1,2,3 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Apsley Heath, Tanworth, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Thomas Dunn.4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Gilberts Green, Tanworth, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Thomas Dunn.5 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Broad Lane, Tanworth, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Thomas Dunn.6 Her husband Thomas died on 1904 in Solihull, Warwickshire, England.7 She died in 1908 in Solihull, Warwickshire, England.8
