     William Green was born about 1814 in Warwickshire, England. He married Sarah Greathead, daughter of William Greathead and Anne Chinn, on 26 February 1838 in St Peter and Paul, Aston, Warwickshire, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by William Whitehouse who signed with his mark and Mary Farmer. Both William and Sarah signed with their mark. William was a labourer like his father and gave his address as 19 High Street Deritend. Sarah gave her address as 7 High Street Deritend. Her father William was a blacksmith.1,2 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Tanworth, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son in law of William Greathead.3 William was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Tanworth, Warwickshire, England, William worked as an agricultural labourer and lived with his wife and children. His father in law was described as a pauper blacksmith and was living with them.4

In the census of 3 April 1881 in The Friarage, Yarm, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the servant and kitchen maid to Margaret Spencer who was a clergymans widow and aged 70. The household consisted of Frances Watson who was listed as a companion, Lydia Watson who may have been her sister and was listed as a governess. There was also Christiana Bruce who was the cook, Mabel Neish the dairymaid, Sarah Gardner the housemaid, George Walker the footman and Barker Young the groom. Ada's family lived in West Hartlepool.5 She married George William Greathead, son of William Greathead and Elizabeth Dodsworth, on 16 April 1887 in St Paul's, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, the ceremony was witnessed by Frederick Richard Spencerlayh and A Greig. George was a clerk.6,7,3 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 19 Bentrick Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of George William Greathead.8 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 164 Sherriff Street, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of George William Greathead.9 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 108 Studley Road, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of George William Greathead.10,11 Their son Clarence was killed in action in France on 16 June 1915.11 Ada died on 29 April 1942 in 102 Grange Road, Hartlepool, Durham, England.12,13 Ada was buried in Stranton Grange, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Ada and George are buried under the same gravestone and their son Clarence is also mentioned on the stone.14

In the census of 5 April 1891 in Bishopton, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Hutton Johnson Greathead.4 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Bishopton, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Hutton Johnson Greathead Lawrence was a blacksmith.5 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 35 Bishopton, Ferryhill, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Hutton Johnson Greathead Laurence was an engineer.6 Laurence sailed aboard Aquitania to New York leaving Southampton on 10 February 1926. He was a mechanical engineer and gave his home address as 13 McKinley Road, Westbourne, England and his next of kin his father from Bishopton, Ferry Hill in Durham. He gave his intention to apply for naturalisation. He was described as being white in colour, medium complexion, dark brown hair, 5 foot 6 inches tall, weighed 160 lbs, with blue grey eyes and a scar on his chin.7,8
On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Laurence was listed as living at 88 Inglehurst Gardens, Ilford, Essex, England with Joseph and Hilda Cooper. Lawrence was a Maintenance fitter in the power station.9 Her mother Mary died on 21 April 1943 aged 89.10,11 Laurence and Arthur together received probate on their mother's estate on 20 October 1944 in York.11 Laurence died in 1982 in Southampton, Hampshire, England.12

He was baptised on 24 June 1888.4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Square, West Auckland, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Greathead.6 In the census of 31 March 1901 in St Helens, Bishop Auckland, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Greathead.7 Percy a carpenter left Liverpool on SS Minnedosa on 2 March 1920 bound for St John, New Brunswick.8 In the census of 1 June 1921 in 19 Corley Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he was listed as a lodger staying with Lilian Fee and her family, he was a carpenter.9 Percy, a carpenter returned to Liverpool on 11 June 1932 from Montreal aboard SS Athenia. He gave his address as 5 North View, St Helens in Durham.10 He married Elsie Murgatroyd, daughter of Johnny Murgatroyd and Jane Garthwaite, on 22 August 1933 in Primative Methodist Church, Haworth, Yorkshire, England, after a Methodist Certificate had been issued.
