     Nicholas Methley Greathead was born on 28 January 1865 in Builth, Breconshire, Wales.1,2 He was the son of Francis Tiddy Greathead and Mary Wythe Collins. Nicholas was working as a cashier in 1871 in New Brunswick, Canada.3 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, he was listed as the son of Francis Tiddy Greathead.4,5 In the census of 4 June 1900 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, he was listed as the brother of Leonard Samuel Trewell Greathead Nicholas was a compositor.6 In the census of 20 April 1910 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, he was listed as the brother of Leonard Samuel Trewell Greathead Leonard and Mary came over to USA in 1870 and were all living together in 1910. Leonard was a salesman and Nicholas was a compositor.7 On 11 August 1916 Nicholas received the registration on land in Arizona for the Southwest quarter of Section twenty-five in Township one north of Range six east of the Gila and Salt River Meidian, Arizona containing one hundred and sixty acres.8 He married Annie Eliza Wilson, daughter of George Wilson and Amelia Jenkins.9 Nicholas was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 January 1920 in Mesa Marcicopa, Arizona, USA.10 He died on 15 February 1924 in Mesa Marcicopa, Arizona, USA, aged 59 from cancer of stomach and secondary of the liver. The name on the certificate was listed as Nicholos Mathew.11,2

     Edna Madison Ackerman was born on 14 July 1889 in Buffalo, New York, USA.1,5,4 She was the daughter of George E Ackerman and Euginia Van Wormer.4 She married John Francis Greathead, son of Edwin Francis Greathead and Katherine E Brown, on 28 June 1911 in Gaylord, Otsego, Michigan, USA.1,3 In the census of 5 January 1920 in Virginia Street, Vallejo, Solano, California, USA, she was listed as the wife of John Francis Greathead.6 In the census of 2 April 1930 in 13 Street, Vallejo, Solano, California, USA, she was listed as the wife of John Francis Greathead.7 Her husband John died on 3 March 1949 in Solano, California, USA, aged 62.8,9 She died on 8 October 1955 in Siskiyou, California, USA, aged 66.5,10 An antiquarian bookseller was invited to make an offer on a collection of books, .the remains of the literary estate of John F. and Edna Ackerman Greathead. They were in a shack outside Falls City, Oregon, in good condition, about 1200 books, he bought them all. John had accumulated many books on art and/or water-colours starting around 1920, and brought home catalogues from various art exhibits, filled with detailed notes on the artists displayed, in his handwriting- including the Chicago Art Institute 1930, 31, and 33. He became a watercolourist of note. The book "Universal Indian Sign Language / of the Plains Indians" by William Tomkins, 1927, was inscribed by the author "to my good friend, John Greathead". Edna was known as Phi Beta Kappa at Syracuse U. Sheleft a copy of her father's poetry book, a number of early small textbooks dating back as far as 1800, and two copies of her book "Southern Opinion on the Negro Question" published by Syracuse U in 1910. .11

     Rugeley B Greathead was born about 1915 in New York, USA.1 He was the son of John Francis Greathead and Edna Madison Ackerman.1 In the census of 5 January 1920 in Virginia Street, Vallejo, Solano, California, USA, he was listed as the son of John Francis Greathead.2 In the census of 2 April 1930 in 13 Street, Vallejo, Solano, California, USA, he was listed as the son of John Francis Greathead.3 Rugeley appears as a fireman aboard SS West Camargo with two years service at sea arriving at Portland, Oregan on 18 March 1834 from Vancouver, BC. He was five foot nine inches tall and weighed 149. The ship was owned by the McCormick Steamship Company.4

     Mabel Evelyn Greathead was born on 26 March 1918 in Fayette, Fayette County, Iowa, USA.1,2 She was the daughter of William Davis Greathead and Beryl Eda Shepard.1 In the census of 5 January 1920 in Westfield, Fayette County, Iowa, USA, she was listed as the daughter of William Davis Greathead.3 She attended school in Fayette for eleven years and graduated with her G.E.D. much later.2 In the census of 2 April 1930 in Hater Street, Fayette County, Iowa, USA, she was listed as the daughter of William Davis Greathead.4 She married Alva Chase on 21 March 1935 in Galena, Illinois, USA.5,2 Mabel was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Fayette, Iowa. She belonged to the United Methodist Women, the Home Benefit Club, various card clubs, and donated her time to serve her church and community. Mabel enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, gardening, knitting, crocheting, sewing, playing cards, camping, picnics, spending time with family and friends, and living in Fayette.2 Her husband Alva died on before 2009.2 She died on 27 February 2009 in Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, Fayette County, Iowa, USA, aged 90 after a short illness. Her death appeared in the Waterloo CFC newspaper of 1 March 2009, she was described as aged 90.5,2 She was buried on 4 March 2009 in Grandview Cemetery, Fayette, Fayette County, Iowa, USA, Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday 4 March, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Fayette, Iowa conducted by Rev. Jason Princer.2
