     John Wesley Greathead was born on 22 October 1914 in Blue Ridge, Pennsylvania, USA.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Wellesley Hux Greathead and Estell Sipes.1 In the census of 5 January 1920 in First Street, McConnellsburg, Fulton County, Pennsylvania, USA, he was listed as the son of Wellesley Hux Greathead.5 In the census of 2 April 1930 in Ayr, Fulton County, Pennsylvania, USA, he was listed as the son of Wellesley Hux Greathead.6 John enlisted at Altooa, Pennsylvania as a Private on 3 May 1941. He was described as having spent four years in high school, single without dependants and working as an addressing - embossing machine operator or clerk. His army service number was 33017500.2 He married Audrey P Locke, daughter of James Henry Pincher and Elizabeth Hannah ..., on 1 January 1947 in United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, USA, John was Audrey's first husband. They met during the war. He was in the 4th armoured division. She was in the Royal Navy, a signalman.4 He died on 1 January 1959 in Pennsylvania, USA, aged 44.4,7 He was buried in 1959 in Fulton Cemetery - Union, Fulton County, Pennsylvania, USA.4

He was also enumerated at his school; The Pennsylvania Institute for the deaf.5 Wells spent some time in Miami, Florida.6 He died in December 1984 in USA aged 68.2,7 Wells obituary appeared in the Miami Herald of 10 December 1984. It read: Greathead, Wells H, 68 of Miami Shores. Services in McConnellsburg, Pensylvania, Cofer Funeral Home.8
