In the census of 31 March 1901 in 11 Burns Road, Hallam, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of an unknown person.2 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 2 Burns Road, Hallam, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of George William V Holmes he was at school.3

On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Walter Holmes was listed as living at 33 Melbourn Road, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, with his father Walter was a labourer in the steel works.4 His wife May died on 29 June 1970 in 33 Melbourn Road, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, aged 65.5,6 He married Ethel Naylor in 1971 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.7 Walter died on 24 May 1981 in Scotland aged 80.5 Walter was buried on 29 May 1981 in Crookes Cemetery, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.5 George and his wife, son Walter and his first wife May are all buried in Section A Grave 3766 in unconsecrated ground under the same gravestone.5

     Roger W Lamb was born on 19 May 1942 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1,2 He was the son of William Spurr Lamb and Lillian May Briggs.1 Roger left school at the age of 15, and served his time as a draughtsman with Air Dynamics Ltd a leading Birminghamfirm of heating ventilating and dust extraction engineers until 1965 when he joined the Durham Constabulary, serving at Jarrow and Houghton-le-Spring, before transferring to the Cleveland Constabularyas a result of the1974 local government changes, serving in Hartlepool, Thornaby Billingham Stockton and Yarm until his retirement in 1997. He then worked as alogger (recording trials) at Teeside Crown Court until2007 when he fully retired.1 He married Margaret Helen Davison on 22 March 1969 in Sherburn Hill Methodist Chapel, Sherburn Hill, Durham, England.1,3

     Stephen James Greathead was born on 6 June 1963 in South Africa.1 He was baptised on 7 June 1963 in South Africa.1 He was the son of Philip James Greathead and Lorna Mary Shapcott. He died on 7 June 1963 in South Africa Sadly he was born two months prematurely by ceasarian section and the Nelspruit hospital did not have the equipment to support such a small child's breathing.2,3 Stephen was buried in 1963 in White River Graveyard, Mpumalanga, South Africa.2,4

     Mary Greathead was born about 1826 in Yorkshire, England.1 She was the daughter of William Greathead and Frances Raine.1 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Richmond, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of William Greathead.2

Thelma Cross1

     Thelma Cross was born on 10 June 1921 in South Africa on a gold mine where her father was the mine manager.2 She married Cecil Arthur Greathead, son of Arthur Clifton Robinson Greathead and Susan Elizabeth Johnson. Her husband Cecil died on April 1985 in South Africa aged 68 from a heart attack.2 Thelma died in July 2001 in South Africa aged 80 from heart attack.2
