Hannah Mary Proctor was born in 1862 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.1 She married Thomas Henry Sharp, son of Robert Sharp and Mary Coward, in 1885 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.2 There is a lovely picture of Thomas, Hannah and their two children.3
Hannah was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in 10 Catherine Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Hannah was listed with no occupation and I can at this moment find no trace of her husband.4 Her husband Thomas died on 22 June 1894 in 1 Prissick Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, aged 34 Not sure why his address was given as Prissick Street, still cannot locate him in 1891, he was probably at sea or in hospital following a serious accident at sea which crippled and blinded him from which complications he eventually died.5,6,3,7 Hannah was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 12 Catherine Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Hannah is now listed as a widow and living with her sons Edmond and Bertie.8 Hannah was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 12 Catherine Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Hannah was living with her son Thomas and mother Jane Proctor a widow aged 71 who had four children all of whom were alive in 1911.9 Hannah died on 21 December 1945 in 6 Albion Terrace, Hartlepool, Durham, England.10,6 The will of Hannah was proved on 18 March 1946 to her son Thomas Albert a railway staithes manager. Her effects were valued at £477 13s 3d.6

Edmond Sharp

Edmond Sharp was born in 1886 in Hartlepool, Durham, England, I understand Edmond was a family surname a couple of generations back.1,2 He was the son of Thomas Henry Sharp and Hannah Mary Proctor. There is a lovely picture of Thomas, Hannah and their two children.3
In the census of 5 April 1891 in 10 Catherine Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Hannah Mary Sharp.4 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 12 Catherine Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Hannah Mary Sharp Edmond was a ships draughtsman.5 He married Laura Evans, daughter of John Evans and Ann Elizabeth Markwell, on 9 June 1911 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, Edmond was a naval architect.6
Edmond must have been quite an artist as he entered two painting into the autograph album of Thomas Greathead and two in the album of Marion Greathead. This photograph was taken around 1922. He was apparently also a very talented musician.7,3
Edmond and his daughter Gwenillian sailed from Corona in Spain on board SS Gropesa arriving in Liverpool on 3 July 1930.8 Edmond, his wife and two daughters left Liverpool on board SS Oroya bound for Coruna in Spain on 14 August 1930. Their home address was 72 Londonderry Road, Stockton on Tees.9 Edmond and family lived in Ferrol, Galicia, in northern Spain. Edmond still working in the ship building industry. Dorothy lived there for quite a few years with them. Gwenllian also spent several years but as she grew older she would travel back to Middlesborough where she stayed with her Aunt, Laura's sister, Eva and studied shorthand typing. Gwenllian eventually went back to Barrow and worked as a Spanish translator until she married.3 Edmond and Laura left Coruna on board SS Reina del Pacifico arriving in Liverpool on 2 April 1933. They gave their address in UK as Blakiston, 48 Westbourne Street, Stockton on Tees. They sailed back on 11 May 1933 on board SS Orduna from Liverpool to Coruna in Spain.8,9 Edmond and Laura arrived in Liverpool on 15 January 1935 on board SS Reina del Pacifico from Corona in Spain, giving their UK address as 6 Albion Terrace, Hartlepool. They sailed back to Coruna from Liverpool on 20 June 1935 on board SS Reina del Pacifico.8,9 Edmond and Laura sailed into Southampton on 11 August 1936 on board SS Almanzora having boarded the ship in Lisbon. They gave their address in UK as 26 Eastbourne Road, Lindthorpe Middlesbrough.8 In 1939 when Franco took over Spain Edmond and Laura were given less than an hour to get out. They had a couple of suitcases but walked out on their house and possessions never to return.3 Edmond went to work in Halifax in Canada. He and Laura sailed on board SS Mulbera. Their address in the UK was 22 Grantley Road, Barrow in Furness. They left Newport in Wales on 21 August 1941. Returning from Halifax in Canada on board SS Cavina arriving in Liverpool on 29 October 1944. Edmond was described as a naval constructor. They gave their address as 22 Grantley Road, Barrow in Furness.9,8 Edmond died on 22 January 1949 in 311 Abbey Road, Barrow in Furness, Lancashire, England.10,11 The will of Edmond was proved on 21 March 1949 in Lancashire to George Dixon Abraham, his son in law, a bank clerk. His estate was valued at £2976 6s 4d.11

In the census of 31 March 1901 in 20 Nicholson Road, Croydon, Surrey, England, she was listed as the grandaughter of Clarissa Adams She was enumerated as Evelyn, but I believe when she was registered she was given the name of Helen Mary.2 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 21 Tweenaway Terrace, Paignton, Devon, England, she was listed as the daughter of Kate Greathead Helen was at school.3 In the census of 19 June 1921 in 22 Manor Place, Paington, Devon, England, she was listed as the daughter of Kate Greathead Helen was listed as knitting and programme selling.4 She married Frederick Herbert Sinclair Rinder in 1933 in Holborn, London, England.5 Her mother Kate died on 7 April 1935.6,7 Kate did not leave a will. Administration papers were issued on 23 May 1935 in London to her daughter Helen Mary Rinder who was the wife of Frederick Herbert Sinclair Rinder and living at 27 Red Lion Street, Holborn. Kate Adams was born about 1870 in Northfield, Worcestershire, England.1 She was the daughter of Francis Adams and Clarissa Hinds.2 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Ashbury Villa, Northfield, Worcestershire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Francis Adams.3 She married George Von Kaufmann on 10 March 1890 in St Saviour, Croydon, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Francis Adams, Clarissa Adams, Clare Adams, Catherine Latham Frere, Bertha von Kaufman and Harold M Barrows. George was a Merchant and his father Augistus von Kaufmann a Consul. Kate's father Francis Adams was a solicitor. Both George and Kate gave their address as Wilton Lodge, London Road West in Croydon.4 Kate and George were divorced on 31 March 1897 Custody of the two children was awarded to George.5 She married Thomas Greathead, son of John Greathead and Sarah Ann W Stonebanks, on 10 November 1900 in Register Office, Darlington, Durham, England, after a licence had been issued. There was one boarder and one serant.9 She died on 7 April 1935 in Manor Howe Hartfield, Huntingdon, Essex, England, Her usual address was Ivy Cottage, London Road, Wickford, Essex.10,11 Kate was buried in All Saints, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England.12

George Von Kaufmann married Kate Adams, daughter of Francis Adams and Clarissa Hinds, on 10 March 1890 in St Saviour, Croydon, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Francis Adams, Clarissa Adams, Clare Adams, Catherine Latham Frere, Bertha von Kaufman and Harold M Barrows. George was a Merchant and his father Augistus von Kaufmann a Consul. Kate's father Francis Adams was a solicitor. Both George and Kate gave their address as Wilton Lodge, London Road West in Croydon.1 George and Kate were divorced on 31 March 1897 Custody of the two children was awarded to George.2 I have assumed George died before 10 November 1900 as his wife remarried.

Francis Adams was born about 1841 in New York, New Jersey, USA, He was born a British Subject.1 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Church Green East, Redditch, Worcestershire, England, he was listed as the cousin of Benjamin Sarsons aged 54 a sinle gentleman who is described as a maltster and born in Henley in Arden, Warwickshire. The hiusehold also contained Benjamins sister Eliza Maria Sarsons, his niece Ann Sarsons and another cousin Harriet Sarsons. Francis is described as a solicitors articled clerk.2 He married Clarissa Hinds in 1864 in Clerkenwell, London, England.3 Francis was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in Ashbury Villa, Northfield, Worcestershire, England, Francis was a solicitor living with his wife and three daughters.4 Francis was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in Gredwolde House, Yardley, Warwickshire, England, Francis was a Solictor living with his wife who is enumerated as Sarah C, but I believe this to be Clarissa and two of his daughter, Dolly and Edith.5 Francis died before 1891.1
