Samuel McCaul
     Samuel McCaul was born on 27 May 1836 in Bethnal Green, London, England.2 He was the son of Alexander McCaul and Mary Clarke Crosthwaite.3 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 39 King William Street, St Margaret in the Martyrs, London, England, he was listed as the son of Alexander McCaul.4 Samuel took out a licence on 19 June 1874.5 He married Dorothea Greatheed, daughter of Samuel Stephenson Greatheed and Margaret Stephenson, on 23 June 1874 in St George, Bloomsbury, London, England, by licence. Samuel was a clerk in the War Office and was living at Rectory House, St Magus, London. Dorothea gave her address as 58 Guildford Street. The ceremony was witnessed by William Greathead and Emma Katherine Maitland and performed by Dorothy's brother Stephenson.1,2,6 Samuel was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 5 Park Road, Deptford, London, England, Samuel was a barrister, late of the War Office.7 Samuel died on 19 March 1909 in Greenwich, London, England, aged 72.2,8 Samuel was buried in Brockley and Ladywell Cemetery, Ivy Road, Lewisham, London, England, Samuel and Dorothy were buried under the dame gravestone.9

Emma Jane Harrison1

     Emma Jane Harrison was born in 1842 in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.2,3 She was the daughter of Thomas Harrison and Harriet Langton.1 It is believed that John sailed aboard the clipper Queen of the Colony leaving England on 12 July 1866 bound for Moreton Bay in Australia leaving behind him his wife and two surviving children. Whether he planned to send for them or not it is not known. What appears to have been a ship board romance took place with Emma Jane Harrison who became his second wife shortly after they landed on 12 October 1866.1,4 She married John Spurr Lamb, son of Nicholas Lamb and Elizabeth Spurr, on 16 November 1866 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.2,1 Her husband John died on 5 July 1878 in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, Queensland, Australia, aged 48 On his death certificate it was stated he had been in Australia for 13 years.1,5 She married Henry Sudell.1 Emma died in 1924.5 Emma was buried on 20 August 1924 in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, Queensland, Australia.5

Dad stated he was a baker aged 40 born in Durham, and Mum stated she was formerly Harrison aged 28 born Halifax, England although on a copy of another birth certificate I understand she stated she was born in Ireland. They said that they had been married in 1866 in Queensland. They stated they had two other children John aged 3 years and Joseph aged 2 years. I believe she also had children from a previous marriage.1 He was the son of John Spurr Lamb and Emma Jane Harrison.1 He married Florence Jane Richardson, daughter of Richard Richardson and Anne McNulty, on 17 August 1893 in St Marks Anglican Church, Warwick, Queensland, Australia.2 Nicholas died in Warwick, Queensland, Australia.3

     Beatrix Mary Davidson was born on 28 November 1894 in Woodburn, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.2,3,4 She was the daughter of Mark George Davidson and Beatrice Sarah Spens Black.1 She married Bernard Wilberforce Greathed, son of Edward Archer Greathed and Janet Georgina Croft, on 11 June 1928 in Lyons, France, There were no children of the marriage.1,3,5 Beatrix described as a housewife sailed from Liverpool on 16 May 1930 aboard SS Laurentic arriving in Quebec on 25 May 1930. She was planning to stay with her brother in law Archer Greathed in 1717 Somax Street in Vancouver.6 Beatrix travelled on board the ship Duchess of Richmond from Montreal arriving in Liverpool on 25 July 1931. She gave her address Merifield, Beech Grove, Alverstoke, Hampshire.7 Her father Mark George Davidson died on 5 July 1933 aged 73 He left an estate of over £120,000.3,8 Beatrix travelled second class on board the ship Johan de Witt arriving in Southampton on 9 February 1937 from France. She gave her address as 33 St Mary Abbots Court, London W1.9 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Beatrix was listed as living at Red House, Millbeck, Cockermouth, Cumberland, England, with seven other people. Her husband was in Newcastle upon Tyne.10 Bernard and Beatrix and their nephew Edward sailed on the Queen Elizabeth which sailed on 4 May 1947 from Southampton arriving in New York on 9 June 1947. They were described as diplomatic and gave their previous permanent address as Bath, England. Bernard was a naval officer.2 Bernard and Beatix sailed first class on the ship Ascania arriving at Liverpool on 15 March 1952 from Halifax, Nova Scotia. They gave their address as Overseas Club, St James, London SW1.11 In 1953 Bernard and Beatrix announced their silver wedding in the Times newspaper. They were living at Abernethy, Abernethy Bridge, Invernesshire.12 Bernard and Beatrix sailed aboard the ship Reina del Pacifico arriving at Plymouth on 19 March 1956 from Las Palmas. They gave their address as c/o Bank of Montreal, 9 Waterloo Place, London SW1.13 Bernard and Beatrix sailed first class into Southampton on 23 February 1959 aboard the ship Southern Cross from Las Palmas. They gave their address as Fyt House, Tisbury, Wiltshire. Bernard was described as Rear Admiral retired.14 Her husband Bernard died on 19 June 1961 in The Infirmary, Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland, England, aged 69 His home address was Horncliffe House, Berwick upon Tweed. His funeral was announced in the Times newspaper as being on 22 June 1961 at Norham, Northumberland.15,16,17 Beatrix died on 10 August 1966 in 40 Burden Lane, Cheam, Surrey, England, aged 71 Her usual address was Dormy House, Borden, Hampshire.18,19 Administration papers were issued with a will on 15 March 1969 at Newcastle upon Tyne 15 March 1969 to Ranald Victor Davidson retired, her brother.18
