Esther Jane Greathead was born on 14 March 1858 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.3,2,4,5 She was the daughter of Thomas Greathead and Esther Martin. She was baptised on 19 March 1858 in Wesleyan Methodist, Middlesbrough Circuit, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.6 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 12 South Street, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Thomas Greathead.7 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Bath Street, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Thomas Greathead she was a scholar.8 She married John Hind, son of Ralph Hind and Margaret Bradley, on 14 June 1877 in Wesley Chapel, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, They were married by Rev John Greathead, the bride's Uncle when he was on leave from British Guiana.3,9,10,11 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 8 Pembroke Street, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of John Hind.12 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 1 West Bourne Grove, Coatham, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of John Hind.13 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 7 Ayresome Street, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of John Hind.14 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 2 Queens Road, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of John Hind.15 In the North Eastern Daily Gazette dated 14 June 1927 the Golden Wedding Anniversary of John and Esther Hind was recorded.

For many years he was Secretary of Cleveland District and Minute Secretaryof the High Moveable Conferences of the Independent Order of Rechabites and formed many of the new flourishing Rechabite Tents in Cleveland.

John Hind was born on 13 June 1850 in Newsham, Yorkshire, England.2,3,4 He was the son of Ralph Hind and Margaret Bradley. In the census of 30 March 1851 at Newsham, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Ralph Hind.5 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Black Bull, Langthwaite, Arkengarthdale, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Ralph Hind John was a scholar.6 John joined the Tees Valley Railway Company when he was 16 and was the first booking clerk appointed to Middleton in Teesdale station when it opened. The station opened to passenger traffic on 12 May 1868, and closed on 30 November 1964.7 John served the Railway Company for six years and then came to Middlesbrough to join the staff of Messrs Bolchow, Vaughan and Co Ltd with whom he remained for 46 years.7 He married Esther Jane Greathead, daughter of Thomas Greathead and Esther Martin, on 14 June 1877 in Wesley Chapel, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, They were married by Rev John Greathead, the bride's Uncle when he was on leave from British Guiana.2,8,9,10 John was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in 8 Pembroke Street, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, John was a clerk. Mariah A Urwin, aged 15, was staying with the family on the night of the census.11 John was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in 1 West Bourne Grove, Coatham, Yorkshire, England, John was listed as an ironworks clerk living with his wife and children.12 John was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 7 Ayresome Street, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, John was a cost clerk in the iron works.13 John was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 2 Queens Road, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, John was a commercial clerk living with his wife and family in their six roomed home. They had seven children one of which had died by 1911. His brother in law was staying with them.14 In the North Eastern Daily Gazette dated 14 June 1927 the Golden Wedding Anniversary of John and Esther Hind was recorded.

Lillian Gertrude Gainfort was the daughter of Benjamin Gainfort and Mary Yearwood. She married James Thompson Greathead, son of John Greathead and Sarah Miles, in Georgetown, British Guiana.2 James and Lilian travelled with their sons John and James who were listed as Reginald and John aboard the ship Cottica. They arrived on 4 June 1932 at Plymouth from Demerara, British Guiana. James was described as an accountant and he gave their address in UK as Lillycoats Hotel, Millbay, Plymouth.3 Lillian died in Georgetown, British Guiana.2

Leila Maud Greathead was born on 9 April 1906.2,3 She was the daughter of James Thompson Greathead and Lillian Gertrude Gainfort. Leila a government clerk sailed on 19 August 1926 from Barbados on board Vauban bound for New York.4 Leila travelled on board the ship Amakura arriving on 10 August 1933 at Liverpool from Demerara. She gave as her address in UK as 37 Torrington Place, North Road, Plymouth, Devon, she was a civil servant.5 She married Alexander Kerr on 10 June 1936 in Georgetown, British Guiana, The announcement of the wedding of Leila only daughter of Mr and Mrs Greathead of Kingston in British Guiana and Alexander eldest son of the late Alexander Kerr and Mrs Kerr of Balfield Farm appeared in the Dundee Courier and Advertiser on 13 June 1936.6,7
Leila died in 1969 in Musselburgh, Midloathian, Scotland.8

Nigel Walter Greathead was born on 19 April 1908 in British Guiana.2,3 He was the son of James Thompson Greathead and Lillian Gertrude Gainfort. Nigel sailed aboard SS Van Rensselaer arriving on 3 June 1935 at Plymouth from Demerara. The ship had started at New York and called at Trinidad, Demerara, Paramaribo and Madeira on the journey. He was a civil servant and a Crown Agent for the Colonies.4 Nigel returned on 7 December 1935 on board the ship Cranje Nassau bound for British Guiana. He sailed 3rd class declaring his occupation a civil servant giving his last address as 9 Tilton Street, Lillie Road, Fulham SW6.5,6 Nigel sailed on board the ship Stuyvesant arriving on 7 June 1937 at Plymouth from Demerara. The ship had started at New York and called at Trinidad, Demerara, Paramaribo and Madeira on the journey. Nigel was travelling to Bisley for a shooting competition. Ernest Cyril Inness and Frederick Th Manly travelled on the same ship for the similar reason. Nigel was described as a civil servant.7 Nigel was a member of the shooting team that travelled to Bisley, Surrey, England. He won a bronze medal. He sailed home on 24 July 1937 bound for New York and later British Guiana on SS Van Rensselaer.2,8
He married Irma Marie Olton on 19 April 1941.2
Nigel and Irma moved with their children from British Guiana to England They lived just outside of Newmarket for many years and in the late 1970's moved to Westcliff on sea.
Angelique went to California on a visit in 1973 and stayed for 18 months before retuning to England. She then moved to California in 1976, Kathy moved to California about two years later. Nigel died in 1981, so Irma moved to California as did Christopher.2 Nigel died on 30 August 1981 in 262 Carlton Avenue, Westcliffe on Sea, Essex, England, aged 73 His wife Irma moved out to California after his death to live near her children.9,10,11 The will of Nigel was proved on 31 December 1981 in Ipswich. His effects were described as not exceeding £25,000.10

Bertie Leon Greathead was born on 28 September 1904 in 62 Cummings Street, Alberttown, Demerara, British Guiana, Bertie's birth was regstered by his Great Uncle Allen Gainfort of 126 Light Street.3,4 He was the son of James Thompson Greathead and Lillian Gertrude Gainfort. He married Christine Anne McAllister, daughter of John J McAllister and Annie R Murphy, on 6 September 1932 in Climaith Church, Brooklyn, New York, New Jersey, USA.4,5 Bertie was described by a great friend of one of his sons as a great gentleman and one of the nicest people you would ever meet.6 Bertie died in 1972 in British Guiana.4
