In the census of 3 April 1881 in No 47 Longmore Street, Kings Norton, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead.4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 57 Longmore Street, Kings Norton, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead William was a scholar.5 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 5 Cosford Street, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead William was a billiard marker.6 In the census of 2 April 1911 in London Stores, 27 Soho Street, Smethwick, Kings Norton, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead William ws a barman.7 In the census of 19 June 1921 in 27 Soho Street, Smethwick, Worcestershire, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead William was a barman working like his father for Mitchell and Butler.8 He married Annie Elizabeth Morris in 1930 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.9 Nelly Louisa Greathead died on 16 October 1929. The Administration of her estate was received by William her brother on 30 January 1930 a public house manager.10 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register William was listed as living at 27 Soho Street, Smethwick, Staffordshire, England, with his wife Annie. With I assume their children Dorothy and John, their records are currently closed. William and Annie were Manager and Manageress of a Public House.11 William died on 11 January 1946 in 27 Soho Street, Smethwick, Staffordshire, England.2,12,10 The will of William was proved on 20 December 1946 in Birmingham to his widow Elizabeth and Dorothy Eveline Trussell, who was wife of Charles Leonard Trussell. His effects were valued at £1575.10

     Mercy Sivil was born about 1847 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1 She married Edwin Charles Greathead, son of George Greathead and Fanny Wilkinson, in 1875 in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England, Edwin Samuel.2 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 63 Bridge St West, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Edwin Charles Greathead.3 Mercy was buried in May 1882 in Witton Cemetery, Moor Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.4 Mercy was buried on 18 May 1882 in Witton Cemetery, Moor Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, She was buried uin the same grave as her brother in law James Greathead. It would appear that the graves were moved on 23 December 1964.5 Mercy died on 18 May 1882 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.6,5

The ceremony was witnessed by George Greathead and Phoebe Morris. John gave his address as Tower Street and occupation as a brass founder. He was baptised on 9 December 1860 in St George, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, the family lived in Howard Street and her father was an optition.3,4 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 55 Howard Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Greathead.5 In the census of 2 April 1871 in 109 Constitution Hill, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Greathead.6 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 108 and 109 Constitution Hill, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Greathead John was a jeweller.7 His father John died on 29 December 1900 aged 73.8,9 He received probate on 15 January 1901 in Birmingham together with his uncle Thomas William Greathead. Both John and his uncle were jewellers.9 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Molewyer, Victoria Road, Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the boarder of Lucy Smith a widow living on her own means. John Roland Greathead was an estate agent - auctioneer.10
He married Catherine Marguerite Moyle, daughter of Samuel Hamlyn Moyle and Mary Ann H Godden, on 9 July 1903 in Kensington Parish Church, Kensington, London, England, They married after banns and the ceremony was witnessed by L Hamlyn Moyle, L A Muriel Moyle and M A H Moyle. John gave his address as 3 Campden Grove and gave his age as 39 years. I think this is a little short of his correct age, maybe he did not want the quite large age gap to appear larger. He also stated his occupation was a gentleman. Catherine gave her address as 86 Kensington Gardens Square.11 He was Estate Agent in 1904. Roland was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in Metchley, 5 Anchorage Road, Sutton Coldfield, Aston, Warwickshire, England, Roland was living by private means with his wife and son in their nine roomed home. They had a domestic servant called Edith Bate aged 24.12 He died on 31 January 1939 in 635 Chester Road, Erdington, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, aged 78 His death was registered under the name of Roland J although on the wills index he is listed as John Thomas.13,9 The will of John was proved on 1 April 1939 in Birmingham to Midland Bank Executor and Trustee Co Ltd and Sydney Walter Collins who was an auctioneer. His effects were valued at £5351 12s 2d and resworn as £5151 12s 2d.9 Edge and Ellison of 5 Waterloo Street, Birmingham 2 were the solicitors for the executors of John Thomas Greathead. They placed a notice in the London Gazette of 28 April 1939 asking that any person havng any claims or demands against the estate apply in writing by 30 June 1939 after which they will proceed to distrbute the assets.14 Roland was buried in Sutton Coldfield Cemetery, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, his wife was later buried under the same gravestone.15,16

     Catherine Sermon was born in 1841 in Yardley, Warwickshire, England.1,3 She was the daughter of Jacob Sermon and Catherine ...1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Clump Cottages, Warwick Road, Yardley, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Jacob Sermon.4 She married George Turner, son of Thomas Turner, on 28 May 1862 in Parish Church, Spilsby, Warwickshire, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Thomas Sermon aand Mary Ann Hood. George ws a porter.5 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Warwick Road, Yardley, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Jacob Sermon Catherine was listed as married and a laundress. I do not know where her husband was living. The boarder George Greathead later became her husband.6 She married George Greathead, son of Isaac Greathead and Ann Morrall, Although Catherine took George's name I am unsure whether they ever married.1 Her husband George died on 1881 in Solihull, Warwickshire, England.1,7 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Court 8 No 15 South Road, Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the wife of George Greathead.8 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 14 Court 2 House, Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the wife of George Greathead Catherine was a laundress.9 Her husband George died on 1896 in Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.10 She was also known by the name of Katherine Greathead.1 Katherine was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 at 63 3rd White Road, Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Katherine was a widow and laundress.11 Catherine died in 1908 in Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Catherine died under the name of Catherine Greathead.12 Catherine was buried in July 1908 in Witton Cemetery, Moor Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.13

     Elizabeth Mapp was born about 1833 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1,2 She married Alfred Henry Greathead, son of George Greathead and Fanny Wilkinson, on 12 May 1856 in St Bartholomew, Edgebaston, Warwickshire, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Thomas Grant and Elizabeth J Greathead, Alfred's sister. They married two years later. Alfred was a brass founder.3,4 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Essex Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Alfred Henry Greathead.5 In the census of 2 April 1871 in 106 Summer Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Alfred Henry Greathead.6 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 107 Wilton Street, Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Alfred Henry Greathead.7 Her husband Alfred died on 27 July 1898 in General Hospital, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, aged 62 His usual address was 112 Summer Lane, Birmingham.8,9 She received probate in Birmingham on 23 August 1898.9 Elizabeth was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 at 112 Summer Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Elizabeth a widow was employed as a shopkeeper in an Ironmongers.2 Elizabeth was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 112 Summer Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Elizabeth was living with her two children in a four roomed home.10 Elizabeth was listed as head of household in the census of 19 June 1921 in 112 Summer Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Elizabeth was living with three of her children Elizabeth, Water and Thomas. Elizabeth was a hardware dealer employing two of her children Elizabeth and Walter, not sure why Thomas was living away from his wife and daughter.11 She died on 11 December 1925 in Dudley Road Hospital, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Her home address was 112 Summer Lane, Birmingham.9,12 Elizabeth was buried in December 1925 in Witton Cemetery, Moor Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.13 The will of Elizabeth was proved on 23 July 1926 in Birmingham to William James Wyer solicitors clerk. Her effects were valued at £958 4s 4d.9
