     John Barker was born in 1898 in Byers Green, Auckland, Durham, England.1,2 He was the son of Edward Barker and Elizabeth Ann Greathead. In the census of 31 March 1901 in 7 Brockwell Street, Byers Green, Auckland, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Edward Barker.3 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 16 Brockwell Street, Byers Green, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Edward Barker.4 John hoped to be a sailor but did not complete his training as he was given companionate leave because his sick mother contracted the Spanish flu and died during the epidemic.5 He married Sarah Elizabeth Storey in 1920 in Sedgefield, Durham, England.5,6 John had a mining accident and could not work so the family moved from their house in Windsor Avenue, Ferryhill to a terraced house in Clive Street.5

Harold Musgrave
     Harold Musgrave was born on 2 March 1914 in Auckland, Durham, England.2,3 He was the son of Harry Musgrave and Thomason Barker. Harry and the family moved down to Birmingham with their chidlren as his wife Thomason was determined her sons would not work in the pits. They all stayed there except Elizabeth who was known as Nancy who married, lived in Weston before emigrating to Australia.4 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Harold Musgrave was listed as living at 321 Charles Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England with his parents Harold was a Mixer Rollerman Plastic Mixer.5 He died on 23 February 1965 aged 50 he was poisoned with his mother by a gas leak and remained unmarried.1,6 Harold was buried in Yardley Cemetery, Yardley Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, with his parents. Later in 2007 the ashes of his brother Harry were scattered over the grave.4

They all stayed there except Elizabeth who was known as Nancy who married, lived in Weston before emigrating to Australia.2 He married Muriel Shill in 1949 in Swansea, Glamorganshire, Wales.2,5 Harry died on 11 February 2007 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, aged 82.2,6 His body was cremated and his ashes scattered over the grave of his parents and brother in Yardley Cemetery, Birmingham on 22 February 2007.2

     Lily Coombs was born on 21 May 1891 in Camberwell, London, England.1,2,3,4 She was the daughter of Ernest Charles Coombs and Eliza Harriett Dennett.1 She was baptized on 2 June 1895 which was Whitsunday in St Andrews, Peckham, London, England, together with two of her siblings Walter and Henry. Their address was listed as 5 Haymarket Road and their father was a harness maker.2 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 4 Cottage Street, Poplar, London, England, she was listed as the daughter of Ernest Charles Coombs.5 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 30 Portree Street, Bromley, London, England, she was listed as a boarder staying with Charles and Eunice Lee and their family in their three roomed home. Lily was an asbestos spinner.6 She married George Alfred Greathead, son of George Christopher Greathead and Louisa M Steel, on 4 November 1911 in St Saviour's, Poplar, London, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by William Henry Coombs and Elizabeth Coombs. George was listed as a ships clerk and both he and Lily gave their address as 49 Bygrove Street which was her fathers home.7,8,1 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Lily was listed as living at 24 Ravenscroft Road, West Ham, London, England with her husband George. And their children five children May who was listed as incapacitated, Albert who was a shorthand typist and book-keeper, Ronald, Joyce and Alfred. George was a ships clerk.9 Her husband George died on 19 March 1946 in Guys Hospital, Southwark, London, England, aged 56.10,7 Lily ran a B&B three houses down from Hook roundabout on Hook Rise for many years after her husband died.11 Lily died in 1968 in Canterbury, Kent, England.12

In the census of 2 April 1911 in 2 Back, 73 Alma Street, Aston Manor, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of Albert Greathead.4 He married Lydia Nellie Louisa Hubbard, daughter of John Mulligan Hubbard and Laura Jorden, on 24 August 1935 in Holy Trinity, Birchfield, Staffordshire, England, The ceremony was witnessed by William John Jones and John Mulligan Hubbard. Albert was a postman and gave his address as 46 Salisbury Road, while Lydia gave her address as 34 Havelock Road.1,5,6 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Albert was listed as living at 41 Somercotes Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England with his wife Lydia. Albert was a postman motor driver.3 His wife Lydia died on 30 March 1978 in 3 Holwill Tor Walk, Paignton, Devon, England, aged 69.1,7 He died on 2 April 1986 in 21 Corsham Road, Paignton, Devon, England, aged 75.1,8,9 His death was registered on 4 April 1986 by his daughter Jennifer in the Torbay Register Office. The cause of his death was ischaemia heart disease and coronary atheroma which was certified after a post mortem by the Torbay and South Devon Coroner.10 The will of Albert was proved on 6 May 1986 in Bristol. His effects were described as not exceeding £40,000.9

     Lydia Nellie Louisa Hubbard was born on 30 March 1909 in Handsworth, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1,2,3 She was the daughter of John Mulligan Hubbard and Laura Jorden. She married Albert Sidney Greathead, son of Albert Greathead and Fanny Nutt, on 24 August 1935 in Holy Trinity, Birchfield, Staffordshire, England, The ceremony was witnessed by William John Jones and John Mulligan Hubbard. Albert was a postman and gave his address as 46 Salisbury Road, while Lydia gave her address as 34 Havelock Road.4,5,6 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Lydia was listed as living at 41 Somercotes Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England with her husband Albert. Albert was a postman motor driver.3 She died on 30 March 1978 in 3 Holwill Tor Walk, Paignton, Devon, England, aged 69.4,7 Her death was registered on 13 May 1978 by her husband Albert in the Torbay Register Office. The cause of her death was Carcinomatosis and carcinoma splenic flexure of colon.8
