Gertrude Jane Greathead was born on 23 March 1848 in 22 Radnor Street, St Luke, London, England.1 She was the daughter of Sarah Margaret Greathead. It looks as though Sarah may have gone to London to have her baby, no father's name appears on the registration certificate, although she did register the birth herself. My guess is that she returned home to Kent with her baby which is where she died later that year. Gertrude appears to have been looked after by her Grandparents Sarah and John until she died aged four.2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 2 Lesnes Cottages, High Street, Erith, Kent, England, she was listed as the grandaughter of John Greathead.3 She died in 1852 in Dartford, Kent, England.4
