William was a chemical works labourer.⁴

     John James Crane was born in 1886 in South Shields, Durham, England.^2,3,4 He married Sarah Elizabeth Scottow in 1906 in South Shields, Durham, England.^2,5 John was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 95 Palmerston Street, South Shields, Durham, England, John was a dock labourer in the ship yard living with his wife and two children in their two romed home.⁶ John was listed as head of household in the census of 19 June 1921 in 23 Walpole Street, South Shields, Durham, England, John was a labourer living with his wife, 6 children, brother in law William Scottow and his wife Katherine.⁷ John died in 1930 in South Shields, Durham, England.⁸

     Annie Greathead was born in 1913 in Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, Wales.¹ She was the daughter of George Holloway and Margaret Griffiths. In the census of 9 June 1921 in 11 Brynyfryd Place, Treorchy, Rhondda, Glamorganshire, Wales, she was listed as the daughter of George Holloway Greathead.² Annie died in 1937 in Chichester, Sussex, England.³

     George Thomas Williams was born about 1882 in Gloucestershire, England.² He married Julia Elizabeth Greathead, daughter of Samuel F Greathead and Elizabeth Hyde, in 1908 in Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, Wales.³ George was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 3 Emlyn Terrace Clydach Vale, Rhondda, Gloucestershire, England, George was a cola miner hewer living with his wife and two small children in their six roomed home.⁴ George was listed as head of household in the census of 19 June 1921 in 28 Thomas Street, Pengraig, Rhondda, Glamorganshire, Wales, George was a miner hewer with Cambrian Collieries Ltd but was out of work. He was living with his wife, children and brother in law Andrew Greathead who was an ex soldier.⁵

     Ann Greathead was born about 1784. She was the daughter of Paul Greathead and Ann Dent. She was baptised on 7 March 1784 in Spennithorne, Yorkshire, England.^1,2

     Samuel Greathead married Ann Cookson in 1668 in Giggleswick, Yorkshire, England.²

     Muriel Edmondson was born on 9 April 1912.¹ She married Sidney Ivan Greathead, son of William Greathead and Martha Highfield, in 1936 in East Retford, Nottinghamshire, England.² On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Muriel was listed as living at 27 West Carr Road, East Retford, Nottinghamshire, England, with her husband Sidney. With their son Michael. Sidney was a General Office Clerk.¹ Muriel and Sidney were divorced before 1949 It is understood that the separation ended acrimoniously and Muriel ran away to Canada with her son, and Thomas Barlow Pilkington.³ Thomas, Muriel and young Michael sailed for Halifax, Canada leaving Liverpool on 11 March 1950 on baord the ship Franconia.⁴ Muriel left Montreal on 8 June 1954 bound for Liverpool on board the Empress of Australia. She gave her address as c/o 4 Whalpstone Grove in Seattle and stated she was a sales clerk.⁵ She married Thomas Barlow Pilkington before 1991 It would appear from the National Register that Muriel married again to a Mr Pilkington before 1991.¹

     Michael I Greathead was born in 1936 in East Retford, Nottinghamshire, England.^1,2 He was the son of Sidney Ivan Greathead and Muriel Edmondson. On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Michael I Greathead was listed as living at 27 West Carr Road, East Retford, Nottinghamshire, England, with his parents.³ He married Marie Ricci in Canada.⁴ Thomas, Muriel and young Michael sailed for Halifax, Canada leaving Liverpool on 11 March 1950 on baord the ship Franconia.⁵ Michael died on 22 February 2012 in Canada suddenly at home. Michael's obit stated he was the beloved husband of Marie, father of Lisa and Carm Fortino, Michael and Annett, Maria and Nancy and Mark.^6,4

     Nora Basford was born on 18 February 1913. She married George William Greathead, son of William Constantine Greathead and Edith Olive Ovendon, in 1933 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.² On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Nora was listed as living at 52 Hill Street West, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, with her husband George. And their daughter Edith. George was Red Leader at the Shipyard.³ Nora died on 3 January 1974 in 80 Camden Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, aged 60.^4,5 Nora did not leave a will. Administration papers were issued on 2 October 1974 in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her effects were valued at £2,900.⁵

     Edith Pamela Greathead was born on 3 May 1934 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.^1,2 She was the daughter of George William Greathead and Nora Basford. On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Edith Pamela Greathead was listed as living at 52 Hill Street West, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, with her parents.³ She married Kenneth Buckley in 1955 in St Marys, Norton-on-Tees, Durham, England.⁴ Edith died on 25 March 2019 in Nursing home, Haworth, Yorkshire, England, aged 84 She sadly had Alzheimers.²

Michael lived at 19 Ringwood Crescent, Stockton on Tees 1965 and was a labourer. Winifred lived at 7 Ringwood Crescent Stockton on Tees 1965 and was a shop assistant.² Michael died in 2016 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.³

     Robin Greathead was born in 1947 in Durham, England.¹ He was the son of George William Greathead and Nora Basford. He married Angela Middleton, daughter of Fred Middleton and ... Coates, on 28 October 1967 in Register Office, Durham, England, Witnessed by P Ford and C Middleton.
Robin lived at 19 Ringwood Crescent Stockton on Tees and was a bakery loader, Angela lived at 14 Milford Road Norton Stockton on Tees.² Robin died in 2022 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.³

     Kenneth Buckley was born on 10 January 1934 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.² He married Edith Pamela Greathead, daughter of George William Greathead and Nora Basford, in 1955 in St Marys, Norton-on-Tees, Durham, England.³ His wife Edith died on 25 March 2019 in Nursing home, Haworth, Yorkshire, England, aged 84 She sadly had Alzheimers.² Kenneth died on 3 October 2019 in Haworth, Yorkshire, England, aged 85.²

She married Michael Greathead, son of George William Greathead and Nora Basford, on 17 July 1965 in SS Peter and Paul, Redhill Road, Roseworth Estate, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, Witnessed by P McLoughlin and K McLoughlin. Michael lived at 19 Ringwood Crescent, Stockton on Tees 1965 and was a labourer. Winifred lived at 7 Ringwood Crescent Stockton on Tees 1965 and was a shop assistant.¹ Winifred died in 2021 in Kent, England.²
