     Edith Hull was born in 1880. She married Thomas Henry Greathead, son of Edwin Greathead and Margaret Moran, in 1906 in Prestwich, Lancashire, England, Edith was Thomas' first wife.1,2,3,4 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 40 Mary Street, Harpurkey, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the wife of Thomas Henry Greathead Edith was listed as having domestic duties.5 In the census of 19 June 1921 in 3 Aldred Street, Failsworth, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the wife of Thomas Henry Greathead.6 She died in 1933 in Manchester, Lancashire, England, Henry remarried 25 March 1934 describing himself as a widower.7,1 Edith was buried Edith's husband Thomas was buried in the same grave as her in Moston cemetery, Manchester.3

     George Shuker was born in 1849 in Childs Ercall, Shropshire, England.2 He was the son of John Shuker and Mary Middleton. He married Ellenor Wilkes in 1877 in Clun, Montgomeryshire, Wales.3 George was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in Little Weston, Chirbury, Shropshire, England, George was a farmer of 42 acres living with his wife Ellen and mother.4 George was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in White House, Worthen, Shropshire, England, George was a farmer living with his wife Eleanor.5 George was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in White House, Worthen, Shropshire, England, George was a farmer living with his wife.6 George died before 1934.1

     Thomas William Lamplough was born in 1883 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.2 He was the son of Matthew George Lamplough and Mary Ann Scrimshaw. In the census of 5 April 1891 in 83 Cumber Lane, Stranton, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Matthew George Lamplough.3 He married Selina Welford, daughter of Robert Welford and Mary Jane Beautyman, in 1910 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.4 Thomas was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in Tearden House, Sydenham Road, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, Thomas was a horse slaughterer living with his wife and her widowed mother and two brothers in their five roomed home.5 Thomas died in March 1928 in Hartlepool, Durham, England, he was a general dealer, sadly he died before his last son Kenneth was born.1,6,7

     George Gammon was born on 30 October 1881.2 He married Mary Annie ...3 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register George was listed as living at 8 East Terrace, Easington, Durham, England, with his wife Mary. And their children Clara, Frederick and Harry. George was a colliery bricklayer working underground.3 George died before 1948.1

     Jane Pounder was born about 1897. She was the daughter of Robert Pounder. She married George Greathead, son of William Greathead and Catherine Hawley, on 24 December 1921 in Register Office, Easington, Durham, England, the ceremony was witnessed by Robert Pounder Brown and Mary Isabella Brown. George lived at 1 Millbank Terrace, Station Town.1 She was a bottle cleaner at Brewery. Jane died in 1932 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham, England, George remarried as a widower.2

Madeline Blanche Greathead née Thresher
     Madeline Blanche Thresher was born on 20 April 1926 in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England.1,2 She was the daughter of James Thresher and Ada ... On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Madeline Blanche Thresher was listed as living at 2 College Place, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England, with her parents.3 She married Geoffrey Greathead, son of Thomas George Greathead and Lilian Ferris, on 18 June 1949 in Register Office, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England, The ceremony was witnessed by F Thresher and T G Greathead. Madeline was a hospital laundry hand. Geoffrey lived at Sarsgrove Bungalows, Chipping Norton and was a wireman electrician.1,4 The young couple answered a newspaper advertisement for rented flat and set up home there with their young daughter Larraine. Little did they know that their landlady was a German spy. Madeline wrote up her story which I have included in the website. For more information on this story, see Russian Spies.1 She died on 7 April 2003 in Horton General Hospital, Banbury, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England, aged 76 from cardiac dysrhythmia The death was certified by N.G.Gardiner the Coroner for Oxfordshire after post mortem without inquest.5,1,6
