Norman Greathead
     Norman Greathead was born on 17 May 1925 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1,2,3 He was the son of William Constantine Greathead and Edith Olive Ovendon. He was in the Navy. He married Elsie Crane, daughter of John James Crane and Sarah Elizabeth Scottow, on 21 September 1946 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England, Elsie's brother Joe who had been a POW for five years in Japan came to their wedding and met his second wife Norman's sister Grace.1,4 His wife Elsie died on 8 January 1999 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England, aged 73.1,5 Norman suffered from arthritis late in life.1 Norman died on 7 January 2009 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, aged 83.6,7,8 The will of Norman was proved on 17 June 2009 in Leeds.7

     Elsie Crane was born on 8 September 1925 in South Shields, Durham, England.1,2 She was the daughter of John James Crane and Sarah Elizabeth Scottow. He married Lesley Greenwood in 1971 in Worth Valley, Yorkshire, England, 1st wife.1,3 He married Mary E Fitzmaurice in 1981 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.4 His wife Mary died on an unknown date aged 46 of kidney failure.1 He married Dorothy Haigh, daughter of Thomas Smith and Doris Crane, in 1994 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England, she was the third wife of Geoffrey.5,1 Geoffrey died on 9 December 2010 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, aged 61.6,7,8 The will of Geoffrey was proved on 31 March 2011 in Leeds.7

     Mary E Fitzmaurice married Geoffrey Greathead, son of Norman Greathead and Elsie Crane, in 1981 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.1 Mary died aged 46 of kidney failure.2

William Greathead
     William Constantine Greathead was born on 28 August 1888 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1,2,3,4 He was the son of William Greathead and Elizabeth Ann Hammond. In the census of 5 April 1891 in 37 Florence Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead.5 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 28 Browns Row, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead.6 He married Edith Olive Ovendon, daughter of George Ovendon and ... ..., on 9 October 1909 in St James, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1,7,8 William was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 29 Ryan Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, William was a general steel plate worker living with his wife and small son in their four roomed home.9 William enrolled on 1 January 1915 into the Royal Navy. He was 5 foot 3½ inches tall. His chest was 35 inches, his eyes blue and complexion fair. He hada scar on his left forearm two indistinct tattoo marks. His addtress was 8 Mill Street East, Stockton. He sailed on 3 January 1915 on the Victory, being discharged on 4 May 1915 and signed on the following day on the Vivid leaving on 10 June 1915. Shortly after he was on the Endymion leaving the ship on 24 July 1916 when he had malaria. He then sailed abck on the Victory until 21 December 1916 when he was invalided out to Haslar Hospital with chronic Dyspepsion Deficiency of Teeth which was aggrevated by service. He was awarded 1914-15 Star, British War medal and victory medal.10 William died in 1940 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.1,11,3 William was buried on 28 September 1940 in Durham Road Cemetery, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1,12

     Edith Olive Ovendon was born on 18 February 1889.1,3 She was the daughter of George Ovendon and ... ... She married William Constantine Greathead, son of William Greathead and Elizabeth Ann Hammond, on 9 October 1909 in St James, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1,4,5 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 29 Ryan Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of William Constantine Greathead.6 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Edith Olive Greathead was listed as living at 27 Alma Street, Keighley, Yorkshire, England with her mother in law Edith was a woollen textile spinner.3 Edith died on 26 February 1969 in Worth Valley, Yorkshire, England, aged 80.1,7 Her body was cremated in Oakworth, Yorkshire, England.1

Jane Ann Greathead née Craggs
     Jane Ann Craggs was born on 3 October 1917. On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Jane was listed as living at 1 Berry Avenue, Sedgefield, Durham, England in the Craggs household, she was a bus conductress.2 She married Anthony Greathead, son of Anthony Greathead and Elizabeth Grainger, in 1940 in St Albans Church, Trimdon Grange, Sedgefield, Durham, England, Met at the local colliery welfare dance. At the first date they decided they would meet each other for six months, a trial period you might say. After the six months they would decide to continue or finish. They continued for a further 18 months, then they married.3,4 Jane died in 1993 in Durham, England.5

     Francis Welham was born on 25 February 1927 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England.1 He was the son of Thomas Welham and Ada Hoggarth. He married Mary Brannigan, daughter of James Brannigan and Mary Elizabeth Jones, on 4 July 1953 in Holy Name of Mary, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.1 Francis died on 18 March 2004 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England, aged 77.1
