     John Gallear was born about 1842 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.1 He married Abigail Brown in 1864 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.1,2 John was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in 7 Wesley Street, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, John was a collier living with his wife and three sons, they had a lodger. It looks like they were living next door to Abigail's widowed mother and brother.3 I have assumed Abigail died in 1881 as John Gallear remarried.1 He married Elizabeth ...1 John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in Canal Side, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, John was a pit shaft sinker living with Elizabeth, who is listed as his wife.4 He married Maria Bradley.1 I have assumed Elizabeth died in 1891 as John Gallear remarried.1 John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in 34 Bridge Street, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, John was listed as a widower and a coal sinker. The household consisted of John and two of his children Samuel and Ann both listed as scholars. Maria Lane was listed as a lodger. Her children Helen a factory hand, Richard and Annie scholars and little John who was eight months old.5 John died in 1898 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.6

     John Gallear was born about 1864 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.1 He was the son of John Gallear and Abigail Brown.1 In the census of 2 April 1871 in 7 Wesley Street, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Gallear.2 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Canal Side, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Gallear he was a scholar.3 He married Martha Weaver in 1884 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.4 John was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in 57 Oxford Street, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, John and Martha and their three young children are staying as lodgers of Martha's widowed father Isaiah Weaver and four of her siblings, Ann, Frances, Joseph and Jane. John is listed as a sheet iron worker.5 John was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 2 Gaskell Street, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales, John was described as an iron worker living with his wife and children.6 John was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 10 Milner Street, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales, John was a roller sheet iron worker living with his wife and children in their three roomed home. Martha states she and John had twelve children, four of which had already died.7 His son John Gallear died on 27 September 1916 he was a Lance Corporal in 6th Battallion Yorkshire Regiment Number 11241. He had enlisted in Middlesborough John and Martha were living at 14 Portskeweyy Street, Newport at the time.8 John died in 1926 in Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales.9
