Lilian Florence Gertrude Bennett née Lewis
     Lilian Florence Gertrude Lewis was born on 11 April 1909 in Dover, Kent, England.1 She was the daughter of John Norton Lewis and Daisy Gertrude Stroud.1 She married Albert Joseph Bennett in 1931 in Dover, Kent, England.1,2 Her husband Albert died on February 1994 in Shepway, Kent, England.1,3 She died on 9 March 2011 in Temple Ewell Nursing Home, Temple Ewell, Dover, Kent, England, aged 101 from old age.1

     Basil George Belchamber was born on 21 May 1897 in High Street, Petworth, Sussex, England, he was registered as Frederick Basil George and was the son of George and Kate Belchamber.2,3 In the census of 2 April 1911 in Maple Tree Cottage, Dunsfold, Surrey, England, he was listed as the son of George and Kate née Horn Belchamber, who had been married 19 years, they had eight children and lived in a five roomed cottage. George was a blacksmith. Basil's siblings were Ethel aged 17, a parlourmaid, Ivy aged 15 a housemaid (she was not staying wth the family on census night) at Robert age 11, Debbie aged 9, Gordon aged 7, James aged 5 and Ronald aged 3. Basil, Robert and Dennis were at school.4 He married Dorothy May Radley on 15 February 1922 in Register Office, Guildford, Surrey, England, Basil was a motor mechanic living at Oakleigh, Woodside Road, Chiddingfold. The ceremony was witnessed by Kate Belchamber and William Huntingfold.5 The birth of Basil's daughter Maureen on 30 November 1928 was registered in his name and her mother's name of Turmaine. Both were listed as informants. Basil was a motor coach driver and gave his address as 55 Addison Road, Guildford.1 Basil was a pilot during the war, here is a wonderful picture of him (right).2 He died on 18 July 1981 in Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, Surrey, England, aged 84 from bronchopneumonia and renal failure. His daughter Barbara registered his death.6,2
