Harold Turner was born on 12 October 1923 in Vivian, McDowell County, West Virginia, USA.2 He married Doris Irene Greathead, daughter of Thomason Greathead and Victoria Tori Day, in August 1947.1 His wife Doris died on 19 November 1998 in 829 Albeniarie Street, Bluefield, West Virginia, USA, aged 71.1,2 He died on 27 May 2000 in Princeton, Mercer County, West Virginia, USA, aged 76.1,2 He was buried in Roselawn Memorial Garden, Princeton, Mercer County, West Virginia, USA, His obituary read: BLUEFIELD- Harold Turner, 76, of 829 Albemarle St., Bluefield died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at the Princeton Community Hospital.
Born on Oct. 12, 1923, in Vivian, he was a son of the late Jonathan and Florence Frith Turner. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Gideon Society. He was the president of the Christian Action Sunday school class and the past chairman of the pastor parish relations committee and was a certified lay speaker. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Princeton Elks Lodge #1459, AF&AM Vivian Lodge #105 He was a retired Inspector and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris G. Turner; four brothers, Wiley, Paul, Ray and Ervin Turner; and three sisters, Clara Leslie, Thelma Taylor and Eva Stanley.
He is survived by his son, Harold Allen Turner and wife, Joanne R. of Edmond, Okla; daughter, Carol Collins and husband, Connie of Princeton; one brother, James Turner of Powell, Tenn; and grandson, Chad Blackburn of Bluefleld.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. I. Mark Conner officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Princeton.
Friends may call from 7 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Nephews will serve the family as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 401 College Ave., Bluefield, W.Va. 24701.2
