In the census of 2 April 1871 in 9 Well Street, Whitechapel, London, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Paul Greathead George was a scholar.4 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Mary Ann Street, St George in the East, London, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Paul Greathead George was a messenger.5 He married Louisa M Steel, daughter of Peter Steel, on 25 December 1888 in Christchurch, Parish Church, Whitechapel, London, England, The ceremony was witnessed by Caroline Steel (who gave her mark) and Henry Mitchell after the banns were read on 9th, 16th and 23rd December. George gave his occupation as a foreman. He was baptised on 20 October 1889 in Christ Church, Watney Street, St George in the East, London, England.4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 8 Romford Street, Mile End Old Town, London, England, he was listed as the son of George Christopher Greathead.5 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 3 Sheriden Street, St George in the East, London, England, he was listed as the son of George Christopher Greathead.6 He was also known by the name of Georgie Greathead.7 He married Lily Coombs, daughter of Ernest Charles Coombs and Eliza Harriett Dennett, on 4 November 1911 in St Saviour, Poplar, London, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by William Henry Coombs and Elizabeth Coombs.      Mary Virginia Greathead was born on 14 March 1922 in Big Four, McDowell County, West Virginia, USA.1 She was the daughter of Thomason Greathead and Victoria Tori Day. She married Dennis P Stanley Dennis was knicknamed Dick.2 Her husband Dennis died on before 2005.2 She died on 17 July 2005 in Glennwood Park Retirement Village, Princetown, Mercer County, West Virginia, USA, aged 83 after a long illness.2 She was buried in 2006 in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Courthouse Road, Princetown, Mercer County, West Virginia, USA,

Her obituary read:" Mary V. Stanley, 83, of Glennwood Park Retirement Village, Princeton, formerly of Big Four, went to be with Lord early Sunday, July 17, 2005 at the retirement home after a long illness. Born March 14, 1922 in Big Four. She was the daughter of the late Thomas C. Greathead and Victoria Tori Day Greathead. She was affiliated with the Protestant Faith, she was a former McDowell County Deputy in the Accessor's office in Welch, and was a resident of Big Four most of her life. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis P. "Dink" Stanley; two sisters, Evaline Greathead and Doris Turner; three others, Thomas Conklin "Conk" Greathead, William Henry Greathead, and Sam Greathead. Survivors include one sister, Opal Sawyers of 109 Fairview Street, Princeton; two special nieces, Darlene Goodson and husband, Wayne of Princeton, Carol Collins and husband, Connie of Bluefield; three sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Stanley of Fairview, Tenn., Edith Greathead of Bluefield, Phillis Greathead of Abingdon, Va; several additional nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Princeton, with the Rev. Douglas Williams officiating. Burial will follow after service. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the Mausoleum by 1 p.m. If desired Memorial contributions may be made to one's favourite charity. There will be no visitation nor funeral at the Funeral Home. Arrangements by Widener Funeral Home. Kimball/Northfork."2,3

He married Vera Isabel Norris on 2 August 1941 in Holderness, Yorkshire, England.4,1 His son Charles William Greathead died on 1 April 1967 aged 19.1,5,6 His wife Vera died on 7 April 1987 in Beverley, Yorkshire, England, aged 69.7,8 He died on 19 January 2003 in Emmanuel Nursing Home, 17 Southfield, Hessle, Yorkshire, England, aged 85.1,9,10 He was buried in St Marys, South Dalton, Yorkshire, England, The beautiful church has a spire of over 200 feet. He is buried with his wife and their memorial stone reads " Vera Isabel Greathead died 7 April 1987 aged 69. George William Greathead died 19 January 2003 aged 85.8 The will of George was proved on 6 March 2003 to his daughter Judith Anne Kennington in Newcastle upon Tyne.10

Administration papers were issued on 21 July 1967 in Kilburn, Yorkshire to his father George William Greathead. His effects were valued at £5511.5 Charles was buried in St Marys, South Dalton, Yorkshire, England, The beautiful church has a spire of over 200 feet. his parents were later buried with him.6

Charles James Greathead
     Charles James Greathead was born on 27 December 1912 in Beverley, Yorkshire, England.2,3 He was the son of Charles William Greathead and Edith Staves. He married Doris Chambers in 1935 in Beverley, Yorkshire, England.4 Charles father died on 1 December 1942. He and his mother received Administration on his effects in York on 17 June 1943. Charles was a farmer.5 His Uncle George Greathead died on 17 March 1956.6,5 Charles received Probate in York together with Barclays Bank Ltd on 7 May 1956.5 He died in 1969 in Beverley, Yorkshire, England.7

Edith Greathead née Staves
     Edith Staves was born in 1882. She was the daughter of James Staves and Thurza ... She married Charles William Greathead, son of Charles Greathead and Ann Smith, on 28 March 1906 in Wellingore, Lincolnshire, England.3,2 In the census of 2 April 1911 in Furrows Farm, Cherry Burton, Beverley, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Charles William Greathead.4 Her husband Charles died on 1 December 1942 in Moorfield Farm, Pocklington, Yorkshire, England, aged 62.5,2 She and her son Charles James received Administration on his effects in York on 17 June 1943. She was living at Moorfield Farm, Lockington, Yorkshire.6 She died on 23 July 1945 in Beverley Hospital, Holderness, Yorkshire, England, Her usual address was Cream Cottage, Cherry Burton, near Beverley, Yorkshire.7,2 She was buried in Cherry Burton, Yorkshire, England, MI In loving memory of Charles Wm Greathead died 1st Dec 1942 aged 62 years. Also Edith his beloved wife died 23 July 1945 aged 64 years "At rest."2 The will of Edith was proved on 18 October 1945 to her daughter Lucy in Yorkshire. Her effects were valued at £889 16s 9d.6
