     George Richard Greathead was born on 11 November 1914 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1,2 He was the son of Isaac Greathead and Priscilla Bradley. In the census of 19 June 1921 in 3 Albert Place, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of Isaac Greathead.3 He married Olive Lees, daughter of Charles Albert Lees, on 18 July 1936 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, George was aged 21 and gave his address as 3/31 Miller Street, Aston, Birmingham. Olive was aged 22 and gave her address as 6/101 Lichfield Road, Aston, Birmingham. The area of Birmingham they settled in after their marriage was known as Lozells, where the family lived until the houses were demolished to make way for a new building programme in the late fifties to early sixties then moved to Ladywood, Birmingham.1,4 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register George was listed as living at 3-161 Wilton Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, with his wife Olive. George was a fitters labourer living with his wife.5 He made and played the banjo in his leisure moments, his son Bob remembers him playing in the Gunmakers Arms on the corner of Wilton Street and Gerrard Street and everyone being very disappointed when it was closing time. Bob also recalls the people looking after his needs too, crisps, lemonade and ice cream from the corner shop. What a lovely story.1

George died on 5 August 1944 in 97 Dudley Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, aged 29 he had been a carpenter.1,6 George was buried on 10 August 1944 in Witton Cemetery, Moor Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, by Co-op Society, 219 Ashted Row, Birmingham 7. The cost appears to have been £322 9s 0d The family were living at 3/161 Wilton Street, Lozells at the time.1,7

He was baptised on 5 April 1942 it was described on his baptismal record that he was entered into the Cradle Roll of St Pauls Sunday School, Lazells.1 Brian died on 7 August 2002 in 244 Kingsbury Road, Erdington, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, aged 60 Brian died a bachelor.1,3 Administration papers were issued with a will on 11 September 2002 in Birmingham to his brother Robert.4

Her mother gave her address as 6 Great Quebec Street, Marylebone and she worked as a dressmaker.1 She was the daughter of Sarah Eliza Greathead.1 In the census of 19 June 1921 in 24 Springfield Road, Tottenham, London, England, she was listed as the daughter of Sarah Eliza Greathead Elsie's entry suggested she was single and that her father was dead, but no name was given.2 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Elsie Gladys Britton Greathead was listed as living at 91 Sperling Road, Tottenham, London, England, with her parents Elsie was a shorthand typist in the Ministry of food.3 Elsie received probate on the will of Sarah Eliza Greathead who died on 1 March 1966.4 Elsie died on 28 June 1988 in 24 Blue Haze Avenue, Seaford, Sussex, England, aged 76.5,6 The will of Elsie was proved on 7 November 1988 in Brighton. Her effects were valued at £169,445.6

In the census of 6 June 1841 in Erith, Kent, England, she was listed as the daughter of John Greathead.2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 2 Lesnes Cottages, High Street, Erith, Kent, England, she was listed as the daughter of John Greathead.3 She married John Restell, son of Thomas Restell, on 7 May 1864 in Parish Church, Crayford, Kent, England, John was a widower. The ceremony was after the reading of banns and was witnessed by William Newnam and Elizabeth Rachel Reeve. Both John and Mary gave their addresses as Crayford.4

And their children Frank and Jack. Walter was an electrician in a static sub station. He was also ARP for staff at Williamson. In the census of 31 March 1901 in 15 Avenue Place, Harrogate, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Edward Greathead.4 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 14 Peart Street, Burnley, Lancashire, England, he was listed as the son of Edward Greathead.5 Edgar signed up on 18 September 1915 into the R.A.M.C.as Private 352509. He was discharged on 21 February 1919 in France after suffering from disability. He gave his address as 5 Killington Street, Burnley, Lancashire.6 He married Annie Laura Metcalf in 1921 in Methodist Chapel, Colne Road, Brierfield, Lancashire, England.7,8 In the census of 19 June 1921 in 5 Killington Street, Burnley, Lancashire, England, he was listed as the son of Edward Greathead Edgar was a cotton weaver for Brierfield Mills Ltd a cotton manufacturer.9 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Edgar was listed as living at 12 Dean Street, Coventry, Warwickshire, England, with his wife Annie. And their daughter Ivy. Edgar was a machine labourer.10 His wife Annie died on 1949 in Burnley, Lancashire, England.11,12 He married Ivy Hall on 2 March 1950 in St Barnabas, Morecombe, Lancashire, England, Ivy also gave a surname of Sutcliffe.13,14 Hettie died on 11 September 1965. Probate was received by her brothers Walter, a retired electrician and Edgar a retired labourer.15 Edgar died on 23 April 1980 in 8 Devonshire Road, Lancaster, Lancashire, England, aged 86.16,17 The will of Edgar was proved on 17 June 1980 in Liverpool.
