     George F Greathead was born on 8 July 1890 in Massachusetts, USA.1,2 He was the son of Benjamin Francis Greathead and Elizabeth Anne Kind. In the census of 9 June 1900 in 42 Maple Drive, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA, he was listed as the son of Benjamin Francis Greathead.3 In the census of 20 April 1910 in 63 Blossom Street, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA, he was listed as the son of Benjamin Francis Greathead George was a finisher in a shoe room.4 On his World War 1 Registration card it states George had brown eyes and hair, medium build and height and was single in 1917. He was listed as a shoe worker working for Fridmart Shoe Company in Lowell. He served as a private in the A.E.F. enlisting in the 7th Coast Artillery in December 1917. He was sent to France in September 1918 and received an honerable discharge from service on 9 May 1919.5 George died on 9 July 1919 in 27 Penn Avenue, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA, aged 29 at the home of his parents, where a funeral service will be held for him on 12 July.6,7

He had grey eyes and brown hair, medium build and height and registered in Needham, Norfolk, Massachusetts. He was a painter working for himself.10 In the census of 5 January 1920 in 27 Penn Avenue, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA, he was listed as the son of Benjamin Francis Greathead Herbert was a driver delivering milk.11 Herbert was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 January 1920 in Needham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA, Herbert was a house painter.12 Herbert was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 2 April 1930 in Central Avenue, Needham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA, Herbert was a painter in a jobbing shop.13 Herbert died before 1970.14

     Rudolph Heinrich Wilhelm Jopling was baptised on 12 September 1872 in Herne, Germany.1 He was the son of John Jopling and Lisette Sophie Amalie Wundsch.2 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 71 Low Moorsley, Low Moorsley, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of John Jopling He was a scholar.3 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 22 Mariden Street, Westoe, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of John Jopling Rudolph was a coal miner.4 He married Jane Greathead, daughter of Edward Greathead and Mary Owens, on 30 December 1893 in St Mark, South Shields, Durham, England, The ceremony was witnessed by Mary Lizzie Greathead and Septimus Major. These two married themselves later the following year.5,2,6,7 Rudolph was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 100 John Clay Street, Westoe, Durham, England, Rudolph was described as a bank labourer living with his wife and two children.8 Rudolph was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in Smith's Cottage Claypath Lane Back, South Shields, Durham, England, Rudolph was a colliery onsetter living with his wife and two sons and niece in their two roomed home. Jane and Rudolph had four children, only two were still alive in 1911.9 Rudolph died in 1957 in South Shields, Durham, England.10

     John Henry Greathead was born on 10 October 1893 in South Moor, Oxhill, Lanchester, Durham, England.1,2 He was the son of William Thomas Greathead and Mary Isabella Anderson. In the census of 31 March 1901 in Headley Cottages, South Moor, Oxhill, Lanchester, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Thomas Greathead.3 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 5 Moor Street, Stanley, Lanchester, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Mary Isabella Greathead John was a coal miner putter.4 John signed up into the Canadian overseas Expedsitionary Force on 17 June 1915 in Winnipeg. he gave his date of birth as 21 April 1895 and suggest he was born in Tring in England. He suggested his mother Mary Anna Anderson was living at 15 Church Lane in Tring. He says he was an Tinsmiths helper and belonged to 106th Regimant. Quite a few mysterious answers!!! He was 5 foot 4 inches tall fair complexion, brown eyes and black hair.5 John changed his name to Anderson - his mothers maiden name - shortly after he married Mollie in 1916 and when in Canada to Jack Anderson.6 He married Mollie Craig in 1916 in Hastings, Sussex, England.7 John Henry emigrated to Canada between the wars. He was in the Royal Canadian mounted police, his first family were tragically killed in a fire?8,6 John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 1 June 1921 in Bevan, British Columbia, Canada, John was listed as a miner living with his wife and children. He also seems to appear on 1921 UK census of Morpeth army infantry record -.9,10 John died on 6 September 1968 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, aged 74 He was a Veteran, Driver, Canadian Army service number 75455, and served in France with the 29th Battalion CEF (Tobin's Tigers.)2,11 John was buried in Ocean View Burial Park, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.2
