William Buchanon Skinner was born in May 1858 in Pennsylvania, USA.1 William was educated in the common schools and at the Chambersburg Academy, and is a graduate of the Shippensburg State Normal School. In 1876 Mr. Skinner became associated with his brother, Capt. George W. Skinner, in the publication of the "Fulton Democrat." In the fall of 1879 he left the newspaper business, to accept the office of district attorney of Fulton county, to which he had just been elected. His admission to the bar took place a little over a year before his election to this office. In the spring of 1883, after his duties as district attorney had terminated, he moved with his wife, a daughter of J. A. Greathead, to Mount Vernon, Lawrence county, Missouri, where he is successfully established in the practice of his chosen profession.2 He married Nellie Johnston Greathead, daughter of Francis Alfred Greathead and Jane Ellen Work, on 10 November 1882 According to the record of Catherine their daughter it would appear that she was their second child. William was an attorney at law.1,3,4 William was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 1 June 1900 in Mount Vernon, Lawrence, Missouri, USA, William was ana attorney at law.5 In the census of 20 April 1910 in McCanse Avenue, Lawrence, Missouri, USA, he was listed as the father in law of Harry O Haltermann William was a lawyer.6 William died in 1936 in Springfield Green, Missouri, USA.7,8
