It looked as if he may have kept his change of surname from his wife, as when she registered his death she gave his parents as Thomas and Jane Gray. It is believed Thomas was quite an individual and was involved in local acting groups as well as sporting and education organisations.^1,2 Mary was living in 1914 in 58 Gatehouse Street, Parkville, Melbourne with her children Thomas, Ellen, Kate and Frederick. Thomas and Frederick were both clerks, Kate and Ellen were teachers. By 1919 they were living in 39 Gourlay Street. Thomas and Frederick were still clerks, but Kate and Ellen were civil servants.³ Mary died on 5 September 1925 in Elsternwick, Victoria, Australia.¹
