     Alfred Greaves was born on 10 April 1891 in Warwick, Warwickshire, England.1 He was the son of Alfred Greaves and Annie Wilson. In the census of 19 June 1921 in 15 Adelaide Terrace, Erskine Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of Alfred Greaves Alfred was a metal cleaner Pitney Rolling Mills, Pitney Street, Vauxhall. Like hs father had been out of work for three months.2 He married Maud Greathead, daughter of William George Greathead and Lavinia Maud James, on 4 August 1923 in St James the Less, Ashted, Warwickshire, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Joseph Tyrrell and Ethel May Smith. Alfred was a metal picker and gave his address as 15 Adelaide Terrace Erskine Street, while Maud lived at Number 3 in the same street. Alfred's father was also called Alfred and worked as a caster. Maud's father George was a porter but deceased.3,4 Alfred died in 1971 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.5

     James Banthorpe was born about 1779 in Sibton, Suffolk, England, Is this the brother of William # 10128?1 He was the son of William Banthorpe.2 He married Sarah Calver This was James's first marriage.3,2 His wife Sarah died on 18 March 1840 in Dennington, Suffolk, England, from dropsy. Her husband James, a labourer, registered her death.3,4,2 He married Elizabeth Fisk, daughter of Robert Burroughs, on 24 September 1841 in St Mary, Dennington, Suffolk, England, Elizabeth and James were both widowed from previous marriages. The ceremony was witnessed by Sophia and James Watson who both signed with their mark, after the banns were read. James was descibed as a labourer.3,2,5 James was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Bridge Street, Wickham Market, Suffolk, England, James was a farm labourer.6 James was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 April 1861 in 9 St George Street, Bromley, London, England, James was a carter.7 James died on 14 May 1862 in 9 George Street, Bromley, London, England, from paralysis. Louisa Fisk registered the death. She was probably his step daughter and lived in Peter Street, Bromley.8,2

     William Banthorpe was born in 1813 in Yoxford, Suffolk, England.1 He was the son of James Banthorpe and Sarah Calver.1 He was baptised on 17 March 1813 in Yoxford, Suffolk, England.1 William was listed as the head of the family on the census of 6 June 1841 in Dennington, Suffolk, England, William was a cattle drover.2 He married Mary Ann Brown on 1 July 1841 in Hoxne, Suffolk, England, Mary Ann was a minor, the wedding was witnessed by James Banthorp.1,3 William was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Saxlingham Street, Saxlingham, Norfolk, England, William was listed as a drover.4 William was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Saxlingham Green, Saxlingham, Norfolk, England, William is listed as a sheep and cattle dealer.5 William was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in Eastgate Green, Saxlingham, Norfolk, England, William is described as a cattle dealer. His granddaughter Emma Gray aged 3 was also living with the family.6 His wife Mary died on 1878 in Saxlingham, Norfolk, England.7 He married Hepzibah Elizabeth Lincoln, daughter of William Lincoln and Hepzibah Elizabeth ..., in 1879 in Henstead, Norfolk, England.8,9 William was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in The Green, Saxlingham, Norfolk, England, William was a cattle dealer.10 William was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in New Street, Thorpe, Norfolk, England, William was a cattle dealer.11 There is a particularly wonderful picture of William and his daughter Rosa.12 William was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in Apsey Green, Framlingham, Suffolk, England, William was an agricultural labourer.13 William died in 1902 in Henstead, Norfolk, England.8,14
