     John Greathead was born on 26 March 1811 in Yarm, Yorkshire, England.1,2,3 He was the son of John Greathead and Jane Musgrave. He was baptised on 31 March 1811 in Friarage Yarm Catholic Church, High Worsall, Yarm, Yorkshire, England, his godfather was John Rickaby and his godmother Dorothy Musgrave.4,3 He married Ann Walker, daughter of John Walker and Hannah ..., on 13 July 1835 in Yarm, Yorkshire, England, after taking out a bond the day before.5,6 John and Ann sailed from Liverpool aboard the ship Orphius arriving in New York on 17 October 1835. John was listed as a farmer. They clearly returned to the UK later before finally emigrating sometime between 1852 and 1860.7 Brothers William and John boarded SS Columbus in Liverpool travelling steerage class arriving in New York on 6 April 1840.
