William Turmaine
     William Turmaine was born in 1831 in Canterbury, Kent, England.1 He was the son of Charles Turmaine and Sarah Hargreaves.1 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Ruttington Lane, Canterbury, Kent, England, he was listed as grandson Ann was a charwoman and had her two grandsons Charles and William staying with her. Their father had only just remarried.2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Ruttington Lane, Canterbury, Kent, England, he was listed as the grandson of Ann Bushell Willliam was a brickmaker and was living with his grandmother.3 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 9 Delsani Square, Canterbury, Kent, England, he was listed as a boarder staying with Sarah Philpott. William was a brickmaker.4,5 He married Ann Maria Dawkins, daughter of William Dawkins and Elizabeth Epps, on 20 May 1868 in St Gregory the Great, Canterbury, Kent, England, William was a labourer.5,6 William was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in Artillary Street, Canterbury, Kent, England, William was a brickmaker living with his wife and children.7 William was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in 140 Northgate Street, Canterbury, Kent, England, William was a labourer in a brickyard.8 William was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in 140 Northgate Street, Canterbury, Kent, England, William was a general labourer.9 William was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 140 Northgate Street, Canterbury, Kent, England, William was a Corporation labourer.10 His wife Ann died on 1902 in Canterbury, Kent, England.11 He died in 1903 in Canterbury, Kent, England.12,13
