He married Maria Robinson in 1848 in Parish Church, Tipton, Staffordshire, England.5,6,7 John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Hostler Street, Darlaston, Staffordshire, England, John was a coal miner.8 His wife Maria died on 1862 in Walsall, Warwickshire, England.5 He married Ann ...3 John was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in Main Street, Catcliffe, Yorkshire, England, John was a coal miner.9 His wife Ann died on before 1901.3 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 153 Darlaston Road, Walsall, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the father in law of Thomas Tunley John was living with his son and daughter in law and their family. He was working as a miner chewer.10

In the census of 3 April 1881 in 63 Aubrey Street, Everton, Lancashire, England, he was listed as the son of John Tunley.5 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 74 Mere Lane, Everton, Lancashire, England, he was listed as the son of John Tunley.6 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 74 Mere Lane, Everton, Lancashire, England, he was listed as the son of John Tunley William was a grocers assistant.7 He married Florence Mary Carter, daughter of P W Carter, on 26 March 1908 in Primitive Methodist Church, Whitchurch, Hampshire, England, by Rev W Perry. Florence was given away by her father and wore a travelling dress of brown beaver cloth with hat and gloves to match. The bridesmaid, her sister Edythe Carter wore a becoming costume in green cloth. Robert E Sadler Tattenball was bestman. The church was decorated with palms and flowers. Mrs Ed Humphreys played the organ. Breakfast was served at brides home.8,3,9 William was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in The Manse, Broxton, Chester, Cheshire, England, William was a Primitive Methodist Minister living with his wife and daughter in their seven roomed home. Mary Ann Carter was visiting the family.10 He died on 12 July 1939 in The Hawthorns, West Hermitage, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, aged 62 William was the Rev of Whitchurch Primitive Methodist Church and Probationer from 1903 until his death, when he "died in work."3,11,12,13 The will of William was proved on 18 August 1939 in Shrewsbury to his widow Florence and his son John Leslie Tunley a chemist and optician. His estate was valued at £1485 19s 6d.13

The ceremony was witnessed by Harry Noble and Matilda Kellitt. John was a salesman living at 12 Windsor Terrace, Chapel Street and Elizabeth lived at 5 Posey Street.5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 44 Thurlow Street, Salford, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the wife of John Greathead.13 In the census of 31 March 1901 she was listed as the wife of John Greathead John and Elizabeth both worked as a Bescey dealer in a shop unsure what that is?14 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 90 St Stephen Street, Salford, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the wife of John Greathead John was a shopkeeper of provisions with his wife assisting in the business. Their son Percy was staying in the four roomed home with them.15 Her husband John died on 12 June 1917 in 90 St Stephen Street, Salford, Lancashire, England, John was a provision shopkeeper.16,17 In the census of 19 June 1921 in 36 Banks Street, Liverpool, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the visitor.18 Elizabeth died on 21 November 1936 in 2 Buckland Road, Salford, Lancashire, England.19,17 The will of Elizabeth was proved on 22 December 1936 in Manchester to her sons John Greathead a clerk and Percy Casseldon Greathead a head draper. The ceremony was witnessed by Percy Greathead and Helena Patterson. John was a clerk and lived at 90 St Stephen Street, Florence lived at 28 Wellington Street.7,8,9,10,11 John was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 14 Graham Road, Pendleton, Lancashire, England, John was a clerk for the Manchester Ship Canal living with his wife in their six roomed home.12 He received Probate of his will in Manchester. He was listed as a shipping clerk.13 John was listed as head of household in the census of 19 June 1921 in 14 Graham Road, Pendleton, Salford, Lancashire, England, John was the head accounts clerk for the Manchester Ship Canal Company, working in the dock office in Manchester. He was living with his wife.14 Her mother Elizabeth died on 21 November 1936.15,13 He received Probate of her will in Manchester with his brother on 22 December 1936. He was listed as a commercial clerk.13 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register John was listed as living at 2 Buckland Road, Salford, Lancashire, England, with his wife Florence. John was the Chief Clerk for the Manchester Ship Canal Company.16 The Guardian newspaper of 6 April 1946 reported that Emma Dunn a widow died on 4 December 1945 at 44 The Circui, Gill Bent Road, Cheadle Hulme, Chester. Her will was proved in Manchester on 16 March 1946 by John of 2 Buckland Road, Pendleton described as a Salford Accountant.17 His wife Florence died on 8 March 1949 in 2 Buckland Road, Salford, Lancashire, England, aged 64.13,18 The will of Florence was proved by John Greathead her husband on 21 April 1949.13 John died on 25 December 1952 in 2 Buckland Road, Salford, Lancashire, England, aged 69.19,13 The Guardian newspaper of 27 December 1952 carried a notice about John's sudden death, stating that there would be a service at St Stephens Church followed by interment at Weaste Cemetery.20 Administration papers were issued with a will on 24 February 1953 to his brother Percy in Manchester who was a retired draper. His effects were valued at £7724 13s 0d.13

The ceremony was witnessed by Percy Greathead and Helena Patterson.      Arthur Greathead was born on 8 February 1883 in Bramley, Leeds, Yorkshire, England.2,3,4,5 He was the son of John Greathead and Ellen Newton. He was baptised on 13 May 1888 in St Barnabas, Heaton, Yorkshire, England, Hetty, Arthur and Fred were all baptised together. Their father was described as a stoker living at Frigingham.6 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 12 Midland Terrace, Heaton, Bradford, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Greathead Arthur was a scholar.7 An unknown person was listed as a soldier in the census of 31 March 1901 at Dorchester Calvary Barracks, Dorchester, Dorset, England, he was a Gunner in the Royal Horse Artillery, the Pom Pom Sections (Regimental Number 12230). He spent some time in India presumably after the Boar War. However his great-grandson says that he enlisted in the army when under-age and was sent to South Africa during the Boer War. This is confirmed by the incorrect age being listed on the census of 31 March 1901.
Arthur was awarded the Queen's South Africa Medals and clasps, seeing active service in the Cape Colony, Orange Free State, the Transvaal and Pretoria.8,9,10 He married Elizabeth Mathers on 5 April 1909 in St Nicholas, Bawtry, Yorkshire, England, The banns were issued in Arthur's parish High Harrogate and Elizabeth's parish St Nicholas in Bawtry on 21 and 28 March and 4 April.11,12,13 The family moved up to Wooler in Northumberland after 1909.9 Arthur was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 2 Bedford Place Busk Lane, Otley, Yorkshire, England, Arthur was a cleaner Territorial Artillary Building living with his wife and daughter in their three roomed home.14 Arthur was listed as head of household in the census of 19 June 1921 in Ramsey Lane, Wooler, Northumberland, England, Arthur was a sanitory inspector working for Glendale Rural District Council. He was living with his wife and two daughters.15 Arthur was a volunteer fireman. He was a pillar of the local golf club.9,3,16 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Arthur Greathead was listed as living at Moreville Ramseys Lane, Glendale, Northumberland, England, with his father Arthur was a Sanitary Inspector and Building Surveyor, he was also a special Constable in Northumberland County.17 Arthur died on 18 November 1970 in 44 Castle Terrace, Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland, England, aged 87.18,9,19 The will of Arthur was proved on 10 December 1970 in Newcastle upon Tyne. His effects were valued at £1718.19
