William was described as a widower working as a butcher. The ceremony was witnessed by Henry Fielding and Robert Holme. Strangely Williams father was described as Robert Lever a labourer.2,1,3,4 William died before 1861.5

He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Darling, of Langham, Essex on 29 May 1936. He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England. He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Somerset Light Infantry and fought in the Second World War. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Somerset between 1972 and 1974, of Avon in 1974 and of Somerset in 1996.1 He married Bridget Rosemary Whishaw Dickson on 15 August 1942 in New Forest, Hampshire, England, Bridget tended to be known as Rosemary.4 His wife Bridget died on 29 March 1997 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, aged 78.5 (an unknown value.)6 Robert died in October 2003 in Norwich, Norfolk, England, aged 84.7
