     William Robinson Shaw was born about 1821.1 He was the son of William Robinson Shaw and Ann Watson. He was baptised on 26 May 1823 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, England.2 He married Lavinia Hobbs in 1848 in Market Lavington, Wiltshire, England.1,3 Ann travelled to Natal as a widow with her four sons on the ship Unicorn on 14 June 1950 from Liverpool arriving in Port Natal on 19 September 1850.4,5 He married Ellen Fannin.1 His wife Ellen died on 26 January 1890 in Howick, Northumberland, England.1 He died on 18 August 1904.1
