His mother in law Jane Stephenson was visiting them.3 Richard was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in Corngrave Farm, Upleatham, Yorkshire, England, Richard was a farmer of 220 acres employing 3 men and 1 boy living with his wife and daughter.4 Richard was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in Corngrave Farm, Upleatham, Yorkshire, England, Richard is now only farming 148 acres emplloying 3 men and is living with his wife and daughter and they have four servants.5 Richard died in 1881 in Guisborough, Yorkshire, England.6
