     Errol Devereux Lancelot Shaw was born about 1917.1 He was an M.A, (Cantab) Teacher at King Edward High, Salisbury, Rhodesia. He was the son of Edgar Watson Shaw and Ruby Allena Kate Chapman. He died on 3 March 1945 in Germany Errol died of dysentery on a forced Stalag 344 march into Germany, of prisoners from camps in Poland, in front of the advancing Russians. He had served as a Gunner in the Royal Horse Artillery 11 (Honourable Artillery Coy.) Regt.with a service no 1095785.1,2 Errol was buried in 1939-45 War Cemetery, Berlin, Brandenburg, Germany, in plot Grave 11.B .14. This is in the district of Charlottenburg, 8km from city centre.1

He was a saw miller at Dargle, and a peddler in the Transvaal to Green Point CT.1 He married Ruby Allena Kate Chapman on 12 December 1907 in Natal, Durban, South Africa.1 Edgar and Ruby cared for Aunt Martha from 1913 in Natal and then in Brakpan, until her death in 1919.1 Edgar died about 1949.2

     Joseph Whitaker was born on 14 February 1825 in Howarth, Yorkshire, England.3,2 He was the son of Jonathan Whitaker and Betty ...3 He was baptised on 30 March 1825 in Howarth, Yorkshire, England.2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Uppertown, Howarth, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Jonathan Whitaker.4 He married Mary Ann Ambler in 1855 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.1,5 Joseph was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 April 1861 in Uppertown, Oxenhope, Yorkshire, England, Joseph was a carrier and farmer living with his wife and small daughter. His niece Hannah age 19 and nephew Jonathan age 24 were staying with them.6 Joseph was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in Uppertown, Howarth, Yorkshire, England, Joseph was a carrier farmer of 23 acres employing 1 man. He was living with his wife and six children and nephew Edwin a carrier aged 29.7 Joseph died on 12 June 1879 in Uppertown, Howarth, Yorkshire, England, aged 54.3,2,8 Joseph was buried in St Mary the Virgin, Oxenhope, Yorkshire, England, in grave 32. His wife was buried with him in 1910. Also buried in this grave is his nephew Edwin who died on 8 March 1888.2
