Jane like many women was listed as unpaid domestic duties.2 She died on 24 October 1946 in Four Gables, The Street, Wonersh, Surrey, England, at age 53.7,8 Her ashes were buried on 26 October 1946 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 997 following a service in St John the Baptist in Wonersh.5 Her estate was probated on 19 March 1948 and Administration papers were issued to Allan Nesbitt Medd a Wharfinger and Cicely King Lewis the wife of Philip Cecil King Lewis. Robert Copland Sparkes was born in 1851 in Bramley, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of John Sparkes and Catherine Hay Copland. He was baptised on 6 January 1852 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of John Sparkes and Catherine Hay Sparkes in the 1861 census in Wonersh, Surrey, England.3 Several newspapers reported around 22 April 1865 that Robert Copland Sparkes had been among those nominated to receive a naval cadetship.4,5,6,7 He appeared in the 1881 census in SS Iris, Mediterranean. He was a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy. The Isis was a 4th class steel dispatch vessel.8 Portsmouth Evening News and Exeter and Plymouth Gazette of 1 August 1891 reported that Lieutenant Robert Copland Sparkes had been promoted to the rank of Commander in Her Majesty's Fleet on 31 July 1891.9,10 Hampshire Telegraph of 2 July 1898 announced that Robert Copland Sparkes as several others had been promoted with seniority Commanders to be Captains.11 On 15 November 1901 Rear Admiral Robert Copland Sparkes was made a Companion in the Order of St Michael and St George.12,13 He married Alice Maud Jackson on 20 April 1902 in St Frances, Simons Town, South Africa, The Sussex Agricultural Exprees of 20 May 1902 read: Captain Robert Copland Sparkes CMG, RN, second son of the late John Sparkes of Green Place in Wonersh married Alice Maud, second daughter of the late Charles Jackson of Newcastle upon Tyne.14 The Scotsman of 11 December 1903 read: Captain Robert Copland Sparkes, CMG placed on retired list at his own request, his retirement was dated 11 November.15 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in Woodhill, Shamley Green, Surrey, England. Robert was a retired naval officer living with his wife and four servants in their 17 roomed home.16 Robert and Alice sailed from China/Japan on board Bulow leaving on 12 March 1913 and were expected to land and leave the ship in Algiers.17 Robert and Alice sailed from Honolulu on 6 December 1919 bound for Australia.18 He died on 10 July 1924 in Woodhill, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.19,20 He was buried on 14 July 1924 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, in plot L1. The note on the burial registers states: Rear Admiral CMG, Squire and church warden.21,22

His estate was probated on 22 September 1924 in London to his widow Alice Maud. His effects were valued at £16,642 18s 1d.19

John Monk was born on 5 March 1881 in Ockham, Surrey, England. He was the son of William Monk.1 He married Mary Elizabeth Punter, daughter of Thomas Punter and Caroline Lawrence, on 29 June 1901 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by James Punter and Hannah Punter. John was a painter from Ripley.2 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in Stroud Common, Shamley Green, Surrey, England. John was a house painter living with his wife and two children. His brother John was staying with them in his five roomed home.3 His wife Mary died in 1954 in Cherry Tree Cottage, Stroud Common, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.4,5 He died in 1970 in Southampton, Hampshire, England.6 He was buried on 11 August 1970 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, in plot E30.4
