Alice Rosa Seal on 27 February 1926 in
St John the Evangelist, Hildenborough, Kent, England, The wedding was described in The Kent and Sussex Courier as a pretty wedding between Alice Rosa daughter of Joseph Seal of Florence Place, Hildenborough and James Mark son of the late Mark Butt. The bride given away by her father wore a navy blue gaberdine outfit with a pink silk jumper and hat and carried a bouquet of orchids, cyclamens, carnations, narcissus and violets. She was attended by Mrs D Seal (bride's sister in law), and Miss Lily Boakes (friend of bride) who wore brown costumes and grey hats with button holes of violets. The bride's mother was in a grey costume and brown hat. Mr A G Butt was best man. Following the ceremony there was a reception in the Drill Hall where about 40 guests assembled. The future home of the new Mr and Mrs Butt will be at Shipbourne Road in Hildenborough. The newspaper report continued by listing all the many wedding presents the couple received with the names of who gave them.
10,9,11 He died on 16 July 1941 in
4 Riding Place, Hildenborough, Kent, England, at age 63.

St John the Evangelist, Hildenborough, Kent, England, in plot 244 later joined by his daughter Mary.

8 William enlisted as Trooper 2655 into the 1st Household Battalion in Windsor on 30 November 1915. He was part of the army Reserve. He was 5 feet 9½ inches tall, with a chest measurement of 35 inches. He had a fresh complexion, blue eyes and brown hair and weighed 149 lbs. William was mobilised and posted to France on 15 January 1917.
7 He died on 12 October 1917 in
Passchendaele, France, during the first battle of Passchendaele.
9 The Surrey Advertiser of 27 October 1917 reported the death of Trooper W Butt announcing his widow Mrs Butt had received a letter from Trooper Morley of the Household Brigade stating Trooper W Butt had been killed in action. William was a native of Wonersh, and a member of the Wonersh Football Club and had been employed at the Shalford Tanneries since a boy.
