     Walter Percy Parsons was born on 16 April 1920 in Gosden Nursery, Bramley, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Percy Gatheridge Parsons and Mary Elizabeth Hogsden. Wally enlisting as 2616537 Grenadier Guard in June 1939 with his friend Sid Clarridge from Shalford. His idea was to do three years in the Army, then come out and join the Police Force.2 War broke out on 3 September 1939 before he had completed his sixteen weeks training. He had just been issued with his bearskin, red jacket and dark trousers which went back to the stores.3 He married Winifred Irene Small in May 1941 in St John's, St Leonards on Sea, Sussex, England, Three days after their wedding the church suffered a direct hit in an air raid.4,5,3 He married Jean Sylvia Goddard, daughter of Arthur Goddard and Emily Margaret Batten, on 25 June 1952 in Congregational Church, North Street, Guildford, Surrey, England, after a certificate was issued. The ceremony was witnessed by A Goddard believed to be the father of the bride and B H Browne believed to be the brother in law of the Groom. Walter was described as the divorced husband of Winifred Linda Parsons formerly Small spinster. he was a small holder living in Emerald Isle, Berley Road in Bramley. His father was Percy Gatheridge Parsosn a nurseryman. Jean was an Assistant Matron in a Childrens Home and lived in Gosden House in Bramley. Her father Arthur Goddard was a Motor Mechanic.6 Wally joined the Monday Lunch Club and became a voluntary taxi service to the hospital for Wonersh residents.7 His wife Jean died on 15 June 1999 in Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford, Surrey, England.8 Many people would go to Wally and ask if he could mend something, his answer would always be' I've got something to fix that' and he almost always did.7 He died on 10 July 2006 in 2 Holly Cottages, Wonersh Common, Wonersh, Surrey, England, at age 86.9 His body was cremated on 20 July 2006 in Guildford Crematorium, Godalming, Surrey, England.10,9

     Percy Gatheridge Parsons was born on 18 May 1897 in Plymouth, Devon, England.1 He was the son of William Russell Parsons and Margaret Gatheridge. He was the son of William Russell Parsons in the 1901 census in 42 Elrungton Street, Plymouth, Devon, England.2 He appeared in the 1911 census in 5 Saltram Villas, Old Laira Road, Plymouth, Devon, England. As an 'inmate' of the school. The head of the househoold was listed as a widow and foster mother called Mrs Barritt, there were 15 other children listed as 'inmates' at the school.3 He married Mary Elizabeth Hogsden, daughter of Walter Hogsden and Caroline Ottaway, on 23 August 1919 in St Mary the Virgin, Shalford, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Walter Hogsden and Elsie May Dobinson. Percy was a Nurseryman, his father Russell William Parsons was a Gardener. Mary's father was a Nursery Gardener. Mary was given away by her father and wore a dress of white embroidered muslin and was attended by her cousin, Miss Elsie Dobison. The bride's brother in law Mr Lintott was the best man. The couple had a reception at the bride's home and left for a honeymoon in Brighton.4,5,6 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Percy was listed as living at Magnolia, Gosden Nursery, Bramley, Surrey, England, with his wife Mary. Percy was a gardener.7 He died on 6 October 1961 in Milford Street Hospital, Busbridge, Surrey, England, at age 64 from carcinma of oesophagus. His son Walter of Steely Cottage in Wonersh registered the birth.8 His body was cremated after a service in Holy Trinity Church in Bramley. His usual address was High Street in Bramley on 11 October 1961 in St Johns Crematorium, Woking, Surrey, England.9

     Mary Elizabeth Hogsden was born on 27 June 1897 in Flexford, Surrey, England.1,2 She was the daughter of Walter Hogsden and Caroline Ottaway. She was the daughter of Walter Hogsden and Caroline Hogsden in the 1901 census in Flexford Lodge, Compton, Surrey, England.3 She was the daughter of Walter Hogsden and Caroline Hogsden in the 1911 census in Gosden Common, Bramley, Surrey, England.4 She married Percy Gatheridge Parsons, son of William Russell Parsons and Margaret Gatheridge, on 23 August 1919 in St Mary the Virgin, Shalford, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. Her son Walter registered the death.11

     Betty Caroline Parsons was born on 6 October 1923 in Bramley, Surrey, England.1,2 She was the daughter of Percy Gatheridge Parsons and Mary Elizabeth Hogsden. She married Benjamin Harry Brown in 1945 in Surrey, England.3 Benjamin, a machinist and his wife Betty sailed with their children from Southampton on board MV Fairsea on 22 January 1959 bound for Melbourne in Australia. They gave their next of kin in England as Mrs P Parsons High Street, Bramley.2 She died on 23 March 2012 in Sealake Hospital, Sealake, Victoria, Australia, at age 88.4

The ceremony was witnessed by James Punter and Hannah Punter. John was a painter from Ripley.5 She was the wife of John Monk in the 1911 census in Stroud Common, Shamley Green, Surrey, England. John was a house painter living with his wife and two children.      John Punter was born in 1888 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of Thomas Punter and Caroline Lawrence.1 He was baptised on 12 February 1888 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, his father was a labourer.1 He was the son of Thomas Punter and Caroline Lawrence in the 1891 census in Norcote Lane, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.3 He was the son of Thomas Punter and Caroline Punter in the 1901 census in Norcote Road, Shamley Green, Surrey, England. John was a millboy at the dairy.4 He was the brother of John Monk and Mary Elizabeth Monk in the 1911 census in Stroud Common, Shamley Green, Surrey, England. John was a farm cowman.5 John signed up on 29 August 1914 joining The Kings Royal Rifle Corps member 11946. He was 5 foot 4½ inches tall, a sallow complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. He was discharged after 80 days on 16 November 1914 as not likely to become and efficient soldier. He had two attacks of rheumatic fever and got pains in his legs.6

     Lilian North was born on 9 August 1923 in Poplar, London, England, her mothers maiden name was possibly Gregory.1 She married Cecil Raymond Turmaine, son of Cecil Lawrence Turmaine and Emily Rose Mitchell, in 1947 in Islington, London, England, They had two children Georgina Margaret Turmaine and Raymond Francis Turmaine.2 Her husband Cecil died on 27 April 2001 in 9 Barnes Road, Farncombe, Surrey, England.3 She died on 2 February 2013 in Farncombe, Surrey, England, at age 89.4 Her body was cremated on 18 February 2013 in Guildford Crematorium, Godalming, Surrey, England.4
