Arthur was a Grocers Boy.3 Arthur enlisted into The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) 5th Battalion in October 1914. His service number was T/1810. He proceeded with the battalion to India, and from there to Mesopotamia.4,5 He died on 7 January 1916 in Persian Gulf his death was reported in the Surrey Advertiser of 28 February 1916.5 He was buried in Amara War Cemetery, Iraq, Plot number XXXI. D. 6.4

Herbert was a clerk in a correspondence college.5 He married Lilian Helen Wright on 25 July 1908 in St Bride, Liverpool, Lancashire, England, after the banns had been read. the ceremony was witnessed by E C Wright, Mary Hannah White and Annie Elizabeth Olds. Herbert was a Correspondent living at 16 Barrington Road, Crouch End, London. His father Samuel was a school master. Their only child had died before 1911, this may have been a lad called Ernest.8,9 Herbert enlisted in London as a Private into the Lincolnshire Regiment 7th Battalion No 42144, at the time he was living in Muswell Hill in London.10 He died on 20 September 1918 in France Killed fighting on the Hindenburg Line.10 He was buried in Gouzeaucourt New British Cemetery, Gouzeaucourt, France, plot A17.11
