Harry Hay Sparkes was born on 1 June 1858 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.1,2,3 He was the son of John Sparkes and Catherine Hay Copland. He was baptised on 29 June 1858 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.4 He was the son of John Sparkes and Catherine Hay Sparkes in the 1861 census in Wonersh, Surrey, England.5 He appeared in the 1871 census in Adelaide School, St Helier, Jersey. He was a scholar and boarding at the school.6 He married Evelyn Mary Shaw on 14 June 1888 in Bangalore, Madras, India.7 Harry left Southampton on 28 August 1913 on board Ascania bound for Quebec in Canada.8 He died on 27 May 1929 in 40 Craneswater Avenue, Southsea, Hampshire, England, at age 70.3,9 He was buried on 30 May 1929 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, in plot M3.3,10
His estate was probated on 28 June 1929 in London to his widow Evelyn Mary Sparkes. His effects were valued at £1,190 7s 2d.9
