     John Michell Courage was born in 1868 in Pembury, Kent, England.1 He was the son of Robert Courage and Annie Michell. He was a son of Robert Courage and Annie Michell in the 1871 census in 56 Queens Gate, Kensington, London, England.2 John left Harrow School on December 1886, he was a student of music and an organist, and gave his address as Snowdenham in Bramley, his father lived at Mousehill Manor in Godalming.3 In 1902 John gave the organ to St John the Baptist church. The organ was originally built for him at Snowdenham Hall some forty years before and he took a personal part in its construction. It was specially designed as a chamber organ.4 John arrived in Bristol on 16 March 1925 from West Indies on board 'Bayano'. He gave his address as Derryswood in Wonersh.5 John left Liverpool on 5 January 1929 bound for South Africa on board 'Nestor' His valet Percival Thomas Webb accompanied him. They gave their address as Derryswood in Wonersh.6 John arrived in 25 February 1929 in Southampton on board 'Balmoral Castle' from Durban in South Africa. He gave his address as Derryswood in Wonersh.5 He died on 13 May 1931 in Marylebone, London, England, There is a funeral card in the Archives stating a Requiem Mass was held in St John's Seminary in Wonersh when he was laid to rest.7,8 He was buried in St John's Seminary, Wonersh, Surrey, England.7

     Frank William Head was born in 1892 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Arthur Head and Eliza Worsfold. He was baptised on 1 January 1893 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, his father was a bricklayer.2 He was the son of Eliza Head in the 1901 census in Wonersh Common, Wonersh, Surrey, England.3 He was the son of Eliza Head in the 1911 census in Yieldhurst, Shamley Green, Surrey, England. Frank was an under gardener.4 Frank enlisted in September 1914 into The Queens and was subsequently transferred to the Royal Berks.5 Sid and Frank are mentioned in a letter dated 9 April 1916 from Francis Coleman to his mother. He wrote that he had not seen Sid, or Frank in a while.6 He died on 19 July 1916 in France at the battle of Delville Wood while serving as a Lance Corporal, 6th Battalion, Princess Charlotte of Wales (Royal Berkshire Regiment), 53 Brigade, 18th Division. Army no. 25236.
He was formerly with the Army Cyclists Corps. Army no. 1073.7 The Surrey Advertiser of Saturday 28 July 1917 reported Frank's death following a report stating he was reported missing since February.5,8 He is remembered on pier and face 11 D of the Thiepval Memorial.7 He also appears on plaque in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England. Franks mother received a gratuity of £5 6s 11 d on 8 December 1917 and a further £8 10s 0d on 22 October 1919. Franks sister in law, the wife of his brother Walter received £1 1s 4d on 6 June 1918.9
