Frederick Lemon was born in 1899 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of John Lemon and Charlotte Raggett.2 He was baptised on 7 May 1899 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, his father was a bricklayer.3 He was the son of John Lemon and Charlotte Lemon in the 1901 census in The Common, Wonersh, Surrey, England.4 He was the son of John Lemon and Charlotte Lemon in the 1911 census in 53 New Road, Chilworth, Surrey, England.5 Frederick enlisted on 17 January 1917 as a cyclist into Suffolk Yeomanry Regiment and transferred to Middlesex Regiment on 17 April 1918 and then 1/19th London Regiment on 25 August 1918. His home address was 53 New Road Chilworth, Surrey. He worked as a gardener for Sir Henry Babington Smith at Chinthurst Hill in Wonersh.6,7 He was officially reported as killed in action on 1 September 1918 An article appeared in the Surrey Advertiser on Monday 30 September 1918. He had been in France since April.8,7 John was living in New Road Chilworth when on 12 December 1918 he was sent his son Fredericks belongings. He acknowledged receipt on 4 January 1919. Frederick's name appears on Panel 8-9 in Vis-en-Artois Memorial, France.6,8 Frederick is remembered on the plaque in St Thomas, Chilworth, Surrey, England.

They are listed as having seven children, one of which died before 1911.9 Reuben worked in the Chilworth Gunpowder works when a boy, and remained there for 40 years until the factory closed in 1921. He was sent to Pretoria by the firm for three years in 1895. In his younger days he had been a good athlete but was almost crippled in later life.10 He died in 1931 in Wonersh, Surrey, England, following an attack of influenza.11,10 He was buried on 7 April 1931 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 357 after a funeral service in St St Martins Church in Blackheath and recorded in St John the Bpatist burial record book.12,10
