     John Curchin was born in 1846 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.3 He was the son of John Curchin and Jane Pattison. In the census of 30 March 1851 at Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of John Curchin John was a scholar.4 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 14 Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Jane Curchin John was a railway clerk.5 In the census of 2 April 1871 in 14 Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Jane Curchin John was a clerk in the iron trade.6 He married Elizabeth Lamb, daughter of Matthew Lamb and Ann Grace Anderson, on 25 February 1875 in Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, They were married by John Lawson after banns were read. The ceremony was witnessed by Thomas Curchin and Ann Grace Lamb, his brother and her mother.7 John was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in 20 Church Street, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, John was a clerk, living with his wife and children. Elizabeth had very recently given birth to baby daughter, unnamed on the census later to be names Elizabeth Blanche. Young Henry their son was stayng with his grandparents.8 John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in 29 Church Street, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, John was listed as a wharfinger living with his wife and three children.9 Sisters Hilda and Elizabeth were admitted into Middlesbrough High School for girls on 12 January 1892. Hilda left in June 1892 and Elizabeth on 20 December 1907. Their father John was described as a Wharpinger and the family lived at Linthorpe Road, Seaton Terrace.10 John was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in Seaton Terrace, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, John was a money lender. Frederick S his nephew aged 9 was staying with them.11 John was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 4 Seaton Terrace, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, John was a money lender living with his wife and nephew Frederick who is listed as having a nervous disability since birth. His mother had died and father was in an institution in Whitechapel.
Interestingly the census return sheet stated Elizabeth had three children during her thirty six year marriage to John. I have four........ The 1881 census clearly states they had a 19 month daughter, but I now believe this child to be a Margaret Lamb not Margaret Laurah Curchin but I have never found her anywhere else, no birth or death.12 He died on 7 May 1929 in 262 Lindthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.13,14 The will of John was proved on 4 July 1929 in London to Elizabeth Curchin his widow.14

He was baptised on 31 December 1854 in Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, by John Lawson.3 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Seaton Carew, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Henry Storer Ambrose was a scholar.4 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Seaton Carew, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Henry Storer.5 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Front Street, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Henry Storer.6 He married Rachel Lamb, daughter of Matthew Lamb and Ann Grace Anderson, on 21 March 1887 in Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, by banns by James W Pattison. His son Ambrose a scholar.10 Ambrose was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in Front Street, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, Ambrose was a fisherman and confectioner living with his wife, son and a servant in their nine roomed home.11 Ambrose died on 15 February 1930 in Front Street, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, aged 77 from Congestion of lungs and heart failure. His son Ambrose of same address was present at his fathers death.12 Ambrose was buried in Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, by James Booth.13

     Mary Ann Harper was born in 1827 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.1 She was the daughter of Joseph Robinson Harper and Rebecca ...1 In the census of 7 June 1841 in Tunstall, Stranton, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the daughter of Rebecca Harper Rebecca and her daughter were living with William Nightingale who was a farmer. Rebecca was listed as a female servant.2 She married John Spurr Lamb, son of Nicholas Lamb and Elizabeth Spurr, on 31 August 1850 in Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, By banns John aged 20 Mary of full age by John Lawson witnessed by Matthew Lamb, William Hood, Mary Ann Criton and Jane Allay (Abbay.)3 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Seaton Carew, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of John Spurr Lamb.4 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Park Street, Darlington, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of John Spurr Lamb.5 Mary was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in High Street, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, Mary was a dressmaker living with her two children, her mother was living with them. Her husband sailed off to Australia in 1866. Did he plan to return or call for them to join him. We may never know. However he married a lady soon after he arrived in Australia and they had a family of at least 5 children.6 Mary was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in Charles Street, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, Mary was a dressmaker living with her son William.7 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Park Lodge, Elwick Road, Stranton, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the mother in law of George Maunder Mary was a retired lodging house keeper.8 Mary died in 1898 in Seaton Carew, Durham, England.1,9 Mary was buried on 18 March 1898 in Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew, Durham, England.1

He was the son of Nicholas Lamb and Elizabeth Spurr. He married Mary Ann Harper, daughter of Joseph Robinson Harper and Rebecca ..., on 31 August 1850 in Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, By banns John aged 20 Mary of full age by John Lawson witnessed by Matthew Lamb, William Hood, Mary Ann Criton and Jane Allay (Abbay.)4 John was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Seaton Carew, Durham, England, John was listed as a baker and grocer. He was living with his wife and other in law.5 John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Park Street, Darlington, Durham, England, John was living with his wife, two children and mother in law. He was working as a bread baker.6 It is believed that John sailed aboard the clipper Queen of the Colony leaving England on 12 July 1866 bound for Moreton Bay in Australia leaving behind him his wife and two surviving children. Whether he planned to send for them or not it is not known. What appears to have been a ship board romance took place with Emma Jane Harrison who became his second wife shortly after they landed on 12 October 1866.7,8 He married Emma Jane Harrison, daughter of Thomas Harrison and Harriet Langton, on 16 November 1866 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.9,7 John died on 5 July 1878 in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, Queensland, Australia, aged 48 On his death certificate it was stated he had been in Australia for 13 years.7,3

     George Maunder was born about 1850 in Salcombe Regis, Devon, England.1 He was the son of Charles Maunder and Mary ...2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Trow, Salcombe Regis, Devon, England, he was listed as the son of Charles Maunder.3 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Trow, Salcombe Regis, Devon, England, he was listed as the son of Charles Maunder George was a scholar.4 He married Margaret Lamb, daughter of John Spurr Lamb and Mary Ann Harper, on 15 May 1876 in Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, By banns George of full age and Margaret aged 19 by John Lawson witnessed by Thomas Pattison and William Lamb.      Mary Jane Watson was born on 11 November 1858 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham, England.1,2,3 She was the daughter of ... Watson and Jane Patterson.1 She was baptised on 11 November 1858. She married Charles Lamb, son of Charles Lamb and Elizabeth Boagey, in 1882 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in The Green, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of Charles Lamb.5 Her husband Charles died on 16 June 1899 in Glebe Farm, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, aged 41 from Tuberculosis peritonitis. His brother in law Henry registered his death.6,2 Mary was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in Front Street, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, Mary was described as a farmer living with her children, her niece Bertha Lamb aged 7 born in West Hartlepool was also staying with her.7 Mary was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in Cockson's Green Farm, East Howle, Ferryhill, Durham, England, Mary was listed as a farmer living with three of her children and her mother with one servant and two boarders in her nine roomed home.8 Mary died on 3 January 1930 in Bolton Grove, Seaton Carew, Durham, England, aged 71 from Diabetes. Her son in law E Thompson registered her death.9,2 Mary was buried on 5 January 1930 in Holy Trinity, Seaton Carew, Durham, England.10,2 The will of Mary was proved on 30 April 1930 to her son Norman James Lamb and her daughter Minnie Isabelle Thompson in Durham, England, her estate was valued at £445 1s 1d.11 Charles and his wife Mary Jane share a grave stone with their son Charles W, who was interred at Ferryhill and their daughter Minnie L Thompson.12
