     Henry Bean was born about 1835 in Askham Bryan, Yorkshire, England.1 He married Jane Lidster in 1864 in Driffield, Yorkshire, England.1,2 Henry was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in Bridge Street, Great Ayton, Yorkshire, England, Henry was a quarryman living with his wife and four sons.3 Henry was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in Bridge Street, Great Ayton, Yorkshire, England, Henry was a minestone quarryman living with his wife and two of his children John and Joseph.4 His wife Jane died on before 1901.1 Henry was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in Bridge Street, Great Ayton, Yorkshire, England, Henry was a stonequarryman. He had a boarder living with him.5 In the census of 2 April 1911 in Spring Hill, Great Ayton, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the father of Joseph Bean Joseph was living with his father and son Francis in their four roomed home. They had a housekeeper staying with them. Joseph was described as an engineman stationary in the Ironwork mines. It would appear he had six children three still alive.6
