Gladys Raygadu née Barker
     Gladys Barker was born on 7 September 1921 in Sedgefield, Durham, England.1,2 She was the daughter of John Barker and Sarah Elizabeth Storey.1 John had a mining accident and could not work so the family moved from their house in Windsor Avenue, Ferryhill to a terraced house in Clive Street.3 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Gladys was listed as living at 4 Danum Drive, Rotherham, Yorkshire, England, she was the domestic help for Robert and Edith Mary Shilton. Robert was a lecturer in engineering.4 After her fathers death Gladys was sent to work as a servant for a rich Jewish family in Manchester, which is where she met her husband.3 She married Augusto Louis G Raygada in 1947 in Manchester, Lancashire, England.5 Her husband Augusto died on July 1987 in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England, aged 66.6

The ceremony was witnessed by Arthur Walter Howarth and Margaret Heath. Francis was a silk weaver and Jean a cotton weaver. Her father was described as Frederick Davy a poultry farmer and she lived at 62 Cleaver Street in Burnley. Francis lived at 7 Back View, Market Street in Colne and his father, Israel was listed as deceased but had worked as a general labourer.2,3 Francis and Jean emigrated with their son Stuart to Western Australia in March 1965.2 Jean died in February 1991 in Perth, Western Australia, Australia, aged 62.2
