     Jane Dobing was born about 1823 in Jarrow, Durham, England.1 She married Nicholas Lamb, son of Nicholas Lamb and Elizabeth Spurr, in 1848 in York, Yorkshire, England, Interestingly and I need to checkout Jane is listed under the name of Topham.2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Northgate Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of Nicholas Lamb.3,4 Her husband Nicholas died on 13 March 1853 in Bishop Auckland, Durham, England, aged 30 He died when he fell out of a cart.5,6 She married ... Holmes.1 Jane was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 April 1861 in Northgate Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Jane is described as a sailor's wife.7 Jane was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in 2 Greensides Passages, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Jane was living with her son Henry and working as a laundress. They were living next door to her daughter Mary whose daughter was staying with her grandmother on the night of the census.8

George Frederick Smith1

     George Frederick Smith was born in 1829 in Canada.1 He was the son of William Mein Smith and Louise Basgrave Wallace.1 Louisa and her three children, Wallace, George and Frances departed London on 18 September 1939 aboard the ship "Adelaide" of 640 tons and arrived in Port Nicholson on 7 March 1840. They landed at Pito-one which is now called Petone. Louise travelled out to New Zealand to join her husband William who was the Surveyor General to the New Zealand Company having sold his commission when he was offered this post.1 He married Clarissa Ann Revans, daughter of Stebbing Revans and C Ross, on 28 October 1864 in Huangarua, New Zealand.1 George died on 22 June 1913 in Carterton, New Zealand.1

     Frances Campbell Smith was born in 1834 in Stowmarket, Suffolk, England.1 She was the daughter of William Mein Smith and Louise Basgrave Wallace.1 Louisa and her three children, Wallace, George and Frances departed London on 18 September 1939 aboard the ship "Adelaide" of 640 tons and arrived in Port Nicholson on 7 March 1840.
