     Jane Dobling was born about 1823 in Jarrow, Durham, England.1 She married Nicholas Lamb, son of Nicholas Lamb and Elizabeth Spurr, in 1848 in York, Yorkshire, England, I believe Jane's maiden name was Dobling based on the fact that her sister Eliza was staying with them on the census night in 1851.1,2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Northgate Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of Nicholas Lamb.3,4 Her husband Nicholas died on 13 March 1853 in Bishop Auckland, Auckland, Durham, England, aged 30.5,6 She married ... Holmes.1 Jane was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Northgate Street, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Jane is described as a sailor's wife.7 Jane was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in 2 Greensides Passages, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Jane was living with her son Henry and working as a laundress. They were living next door to her daughter Mary whose daughter was staying with her grandmother on the night of the census.8
