Aubrey was listed as a grocer and Ivy had home duties. They also appeared on the rolls in the same year for 13 Yanko Avenue, Bronte, Clovelly, Wentworth, New South Wales. Aubrey was a storekeeper.6 An article in the The Sydney Morning Herald of Saturday 3 August 1935 stated: Mr. Aubrey Leonard Greathead, a city business man. In a motor car to his home in Yanco Avenue, Bronte, last night, threatened him at revolver point. The thieves had him covered with revolvers when Mr. Greathead's wife and daughter arrived, and their screams apparently alarmed the men, who made off in their car. Mr. Greathead had been shopping with his wife and daughter. Miss Joyce Greathead. The thieves had evidently made their plans carefully. They followed the unsuspecting family to Yanco Avcnue where they stopped their car some distance from Mr. Grcathead's home and watched his wife and daughter leave the car and walk into the house. Mr. Greathead remained to garage the car. Then, leaving one man, who kept the engine of the car running slowly, as if in preparation for a quick escape, two of the thieves left the car.
Mr. Greathead was busily engaged at the garage door when he was confronted by them. One man was tall and the other short. Their faces were hidden, except for the eyes, with black handkerchiefs, and they each held a revolver. "Don't make a noise. Get back into the garage and give us your money," the taller man said. "I have no money," Mr. Grealhead replied. "Let him have it," said the shorter man, and stepped back as if to fire. Mr. Greathead's wife and daughter suddenly appeared. They had returned to collect parcels which they had forgotten to take from the car. They were within a few yards of the men before they were seen. Both women screamed. The thieves hesitated, and then turned and ran to the motor car. As they jumped on the running board the driver slipped in the clutch and the car disappeared in a few seconds. Police from Waverley, and Detective Sergeant Watkins and other members of the eastern wireless patrol attempted to intercept the car. but were unsuccessful.7 Aubrey and Ivy appeared on the Australian electoral rolls of 1936 as still living at 13 Yanko Avenue, Bronte, Clovelly, Wentworth, New South Wales. Aubrey was a storekeeper and Ivy had home duties.6 Aubrey died on 1 January 1976 in New South Wales, Australia.8,9 Aubrey was buried in Chatswood Cemetery, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, in the unmarked grave section.10
