     John Greathead Hind was born in 1883 in Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England.1,2 He was the son of John Hind and Esther Jane Greathead.1 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 7 Ayresome Street, Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Hind John was a junior clerk at the iron works.3 John's uncle died on 15 November 1908. John a merchants clerk received probate in London on 6 August 1909 together with his cousin Arthur Joseph Greathead and Joseph Thomas Hare both farmers.4
