     Jane Pattison was born in 1812 in Hutton Rudby, Yorkshire, England. She married John Curchin, son of John Curchin and Sarah Cole, on 2 October 1838 in Acklam Parish Church, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, after a licence was issued. The ceremony was witnessed by Thomas Longstaff and Catherine Pattison. John was a sailor. Jane's father Thomas was a papermaker.1,2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of John Curchin.3 Her husband John died on 9 January 1858 in Corporation Road, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, aged 47 from hepatic disease and convulsions. The certificate gives his age as 41 but as informant was Mary Forster of Wilson Street, Middlesbrough maybe she did not know his actual age!!4,5,6 Jane was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in 14 Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, Jane was a marriners widow.7 Jane was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in 14 Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.8 Jane was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in 14 Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, Jane was living with her daughter.9 Jane died on 11 April 1890 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.10,11 Jane was buried in Oxbridge Lane Cemetery, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.5,2 John and Jane share a headstone above their grave.5,2 The will of Jane was proved on 18 June 1890 Her will was proved at Durham by Robert Roadman of Vane Street, Stockton on Tees Manager of an Iron Foundry and Thomas Curchin of Stockton on Tees Engineer the Son the Executors.11

In the census of 30 March 1851 at Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Isaac Verrill Sarah was a scholar.3 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Isaac Verrill Sarah was a house servant.4 She married John Verrill on 26 November 1862 in Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England.5 Sarah died on 6 July 1874 aged 34.1

     Robert Snowdon was born about 1814 in Easington, Durham, England.2 He married Elizabeth Elliott in 1837 in Sunderland, Durham, England.2,3 Robert was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Thornley Branch End, Easington, Durham, England, Robert, a plate layer on the railways and his wife Elizabeth were living with their children. Dorothy aged 11 and a scholar, Robert aged 4, Elizabeth aged 2 and baby Jane aged 3 months. Also in the household as Thomas Tate who ws described as son in law aged 12 and a plate layer.4 Robert was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Branch End, Castle Eden, Durham, England, Robert was a platelayer living with his wife and six children, Robert aged 14 and working as a plate layer, Elizabeth aged 12 and a scholar, Jane aged 10 and a scholar, John aged 8 and a scholar, James aged 6 and a scholar, William aged 4 and a scholar. Also in the household was his stepson Thomas T Campell a 21 year old plate layer.5 Robert died in 1875 in Easington, Durham, England.6,1,7

     Thomas Curchin was born in 1851 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1 He was the son of John Curchin and Jane Pattison. In the census of 30 March 1851 at Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of John Curchin.2 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 14 Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Jane Curchin Thomas was a scholar.3 In the census of 2 April 1871 in 14 Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Jane Curchin Thomas was an engine fitters apprentice.4 Thomas was listed as a sailor on the census of 3 April 1881 in SS Amadis, North Shields, Durham, England. He was a fisherman and a jolly good smuggler, he was smuggling spirits in from Holland. She was baptised in All Saints, Stranton, West Hartlepool, Durham, England.1 She married George Usher, son of James Usher and Jane Wilkinson, in 1873 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.3 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 29 Albion Street, Stranton, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of George Usher.1,4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 17 Anthony Street, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of George Usher.5 Her husband George died on 23 October 1908 in Hartlepool, Durham, England, aged 53.1,6,7 Hannah moved to Bradford to be near her son after her husband's death.1 Hannah was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 64 Cliffe Road, Bradford, Yorkshire, England, Hannah was a housekeeper living with three children in her five roomed home.8 Hannah died on 19 June 1939 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, aged 84.1,9,7 Hannah was buried in Stranton Grange Cemetary, Stranton, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, in plot B5/324.1 The will of Hannah was proved on 13 February 1940 in Bradford to her daughter Minnie.
