Dorothy aged 11 and a scholar, Robert aged 4, Elizabeth aged 2 and baby Jane aged 3 months. Also in the household as Thomas Tate who ws described as son in law aged 12 and a plate layer.⁴ Robert was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Branch End, Castle Eden, Durham, England, Robert was a platelayer living with his wife and six children, Robert aged 14 and working as a plate layer, Elizabeth aged 12 and a scholar, Jane aged 10 and a scholar, John aged 8 and a scholar, James aged 6 and a scholar, William aged 4 and a scholar.
