He was the son of George Samuel Baker and Emma Sarah Baker in the 1891 census in 1 Diamond Cottages, Barnett Lane, Wonersh, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of George Samuel Baker and Emma Sarah Baker in the 1901 census in New Road, Chilworth, Surrey, England.3 He died on 30 November 1917 Lance Corporal Arthur Baker was serving with 5th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment Number 25350 and died at the Battle of Cambrai.4 Arthur is remembered on the Cambrai Memorial in Louveral. He is also remembered on the plaque in St Thomas Church, Chilworth and on Shalford War Memorial.

He was a son of William Abbott and Eliza Abbott in the 1871 census in The Lodge, Wenham, Suffolk, England.2 He was the son of William Abbott and Eliza Abbott in the 1881 census in 6 Church Road, Wenham, Suffolk, England. He was an agricultural labourer.3 He married Annie Hogsflesh, daughter of George Hogsflesh and Martha Harwood, on 30 October 1889 in St Nicolas, Cranleigh, Surrey, England, The ceremony was witnessed by Reuben Weale and Sarah Weale. Walter was a labourer like his father William. Annie's father George was also a labourer.4,5 He was listed as head of household in the 1891 census in Coffee House, The Street, Wonersh, Surrey, England. Walter was an agricultural labourer living with his wife, young son and sister in law Jane.6 He died on 12 February 1901 in Surrey, England, in a terrible accident at the Chilworth Gunpowder works. There was an explosion in the black corning house in which they were working. He was one of six men who died.7 He was buried on 18 February 1901 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, in plot A9 A2.8

Ernest was listed as a labourer, Alice and Florence were domestic servants and Daphne aged 5 was a child.9 Annie and her son Ernest returned to London on 30 November 1936 from Montreal on board Ausonia. While in Canada they had lived with Annie's son Arthur and his wife Mildred. They gave their address in the UK as 24 Quarry Street in Guildford, Ernest was a labourer.10 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register she was listed as living at 25 Quarry Street, Guildford, Surrey, England, with her son Ernest.11 She died in 1945 in 25 Quarry Street, Guildford, Surrey, England.12,13 She was buried on 22 August 1945 in St Marys, Guildford, Surrey, England.13

     Arthur William Abbott was born on 4 April 1890 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of Walter Abbott and Annie Hogsflesh.1 He was baptised on 8 June 1890 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, his father was a labourer.3 He was the son of Walter Abbott and Annie Abbott in the 1891 census in Coffee House, The Street, Wonersh, Surrey, England.4 He was the son of Annie Abbott in the 1901 census in Shamley Green, Surrey, England.5 He was the son of Annie Abbott in the 1911 census in Shamley Green, Surrey, England. Arthur was a Bakers Assistant.6 Arthur sailed from Southampton on 23 May 1911 on board Ascania bound for Quebec in Canada. He was listed as a baker aged 21 but was apparently guaranteed a job on a farm through the Salvation Army.7,8 He married Mildred Broome on 22 November 1916 in Renfrew, Ontario, Canada, Arthur was a farmer. Mildred was the sister of Duncan Broome, husband of her sister Alice.9,10,8 Arthur and Mildred together with their 18 month old daughter Annie moved to Bethune in Saskatchewan in 1919 They lived with Mildred's brother Duncan for a year while Arthur worked on neighbouring farms.8 In 1920 Arthur and Mildred moved on now with two children to the Westridge district and farmed there for 20 years, where they had a further four children . Arthur's mother and brother Ernest lived with them they decided to return to England in 1937.8 He was listed as head of household in the Canadian 1921 census in Saskatchewan, Canada. Arthur was a farmer iving with his wife and children.11 Around 1940, the Abbott family moved back to Bethune where Arthur worked on other farms and Mildred took in boarders. In 1945 they went to Camp Shiloh in Manitoba where they opearated the canteen for the Salvation Army, staying there until 1946 when they returned to Bethune.8 He died on 4 June 1974 in Craik Community Hospital, Craik, Saskatchewan, Canada, at age 84 Arthur was survived by his wife Mildred,son John K., of Regina.4 daughters, Mrs. Ann Cote, Watrous Sk., Mrs. Elsie Bargy and Mrs. Florence Oakman of Prince George, B.C.and Mrs. Betty Blakley ,Bethune,Sk.,1 sister, Mrs. Florence Bater, Regina.1 brother, Ernest in England. 29 grandchildren, 50 great granchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.12 He was buried in Bethune Cemetery, Bethune, Saskatchewan, Canada.9

Ernest was an Under Gardener.5 Annie and her children Ernest, Alice and Florence. Also listed as Daphne Abbott aged 5. They all sailed from Liverpool on 24 May 1924 on board Athenia bound for Quebec in Canada
